Also I am not a fan of the team that switches over. Everyone should just run the entire race (or as much as possible) and drop out when they are done...at least use the same standard rules that are used in an IAAF event. This would be like Froome getting new team members every few days in the tour de France. Now it feels like an even more bogus stunt. I still want him to do 1:59.59, but the bending of standard sporting norms does not sit well.
I'm not seeing diversity!!! :-)
Pink folks Pink..... For the win.
For those saying, "its not for the record, its to show that it's possible". Well I think we all know it is possible if you do everything possible to remove the normal barriers to getting it done. If we're going to do all the V shaped pacer thing, why not just use an electric car with a big draft zone and have him run as close to that as possible? The wing men are not doing anythinig remotely the same as in a real event if they can rotate in and out....just use a pace car and call it done.
The commentators are talking about changing history, but if you're doing a cheater path (relative to a real race) to changing history is it really? Should we do a staged Ironman world record where the guy who sets the new benchmark drafts the swim (legal...but let's build him a big draft group), legally drafts the bike with rotating domestiques and legally drafts the run with rotating wingmen? I think Daniela could go sub 8 hrs if we gave her that.
