Spinal stenosis surgery
I´m doing surgery for spinal stenosis in a week. It´s a so called de-compression of L5.
My spinal canal is narrow to begin with and over the past few years it´s been worse around the L5.
My symptoms aren´t really that bad (some quite subtle leg problems, aching back from standing etc) but seeing the gradual degeneration my doctor recommended surgery.

Have anyone else done this surgery and what was the rehab like, and the outcome?

As far as I´v been told you´re up and about the same day with recommended daily walks from the first day...

Thanks
Jonas

My husband, also a triathlete, had it done last year. It's not very invasive so there is a very quick recovery. Couldn't swim until wound was healed. It's a great surgery with few drawbacks. Just seems your symtoms are not so bad as to require surgery.

I'm also facing spinal stenosis surgery. Re: RECOVERY, how long until cleared for first competition after surgery?

Is it a laminectomy or laminectomy with fusion?
