Special needs bag at Vineman?
I'm doing my first IM, Vineman, in 10 days and I have a logistical question. Everyone talks about what they put in their special needs bag for an IM, but I haven't seen anything in any of the Vineman literature or their website that talks about special needs bags. Does this race have these, or do only the "official" IM's offer this service to participants?

My husband did the full Vineman last year, and unfortunately there's no special needs bag for either the bike or the run. The race itself is fairly small, compared to the other IM's, so don't expect as big of a "spread" when it comes to the amount/variety of food on the run, either (I'd bring what I needed with me - Powergel/bars, etc). It's a great race, though, good luck and have fun!

No special needs bags, BUT, the RD will tell you that your family/supporters can drop a bag off at a certain bike and run aid station and you will have access to it (2x). Definitely go to the meeting to get the info.

Good race. I love it up there. I'll be there, riding the course 2x, opposite direction, so I can cheer you all on.

Thank you both.

Cathy, hopefully I'll finally get to meet you there. I'll be the last one out of the water looking like I just got mugged during the swim :-)

Cathy- What will you be riding? I'll keep an eye out for you. Give me a cheer when I go by- I'll be on an Aegis with a Zipp disc and wearing a Clif Bar jersey.

It should be a fun day- I'll see you out there!

As a volunteer last year in the bike to run transition many people had extra needs in the transition area and as someone else mentioned you are allowed to drop or have someone drop items at the water stops

I'll be on a red Cervelo P2K, probably in a sleeveless blue/white TSTC jersey. I'll probably come volunteer after I ride, so will definitely keep an eye out.

Anyone else racing or volunteering?

Hi, I'm new on this board as someone just directed me to by sending me the link for this topic.

Here is what I got from the Vineman RD on special needs bags (just got this email 2 days ago...)

" Special needs can be placed at t2 (bike to run transition) as you pass at the 1/2 way point on the bike, and the 1/2 way point on the run."

Hope that helps! See you all there...
