Shoe sizing: Cliftons —> Vaporfly
I’m considering picking up some Vaporflys when they’re available in early October, but want to get the correct size. I wear a size 10.5 Clifton but an 11 with the Hoka Tracer (toebox slightly narrower than the Clifton). Anyone go from a Clifton to the Vaporfly that can comment on sizing would help - thanks!

Yes, I did exactly that. I went from an 11.5 Clifton to an 11 Vaporfly. The Vap fit perfectly. Not sure what all these folks are saying about sizing up for the Vap, that's a crock I think. I'm typically an 11 in Nike, that is what I got. With the Clifton I had to go up because 11 was just too short--not because it was too narrow.

One thing about the Vap 4%, they really suck on gravel & dirt. I've used them on the same course in town here (all the races are held on a large part of gravel and/or dirt). They slip all over the place as they have no grip and feels like I'm on ice. Awesome from pavement, but not anything else. I used Speed Rival 6 last race & they were infinitely better (and my time per effort level was actually faster by quite a bit, due to better grip/lack of sliding). EXCEPT for the first part of the run, where it was pavement for like 1/2 mile--the Vaps were way better on that section.

If we were talking about the v1 vaporfly I’d say say with the 9.5. It will be interesting to see the flyknit sizing.

I’m a 9.5 in Cliftons, Mach, Torrent and like you 10 in Tracer. The Vapors I am 9.5.

I. Wondering if the zoom fly flyknit will be a similar shape since it will have the same flyknit material, just React foam instead of Zoom X.

12.5 for Cliftons, 12 for Vaporfly. Got both 12 and 12.5 for the vaporfly when I ordered them, 12 felt better. I would get both and see, because the great thing is you either return or sell them and you might make a few bucks.

I should be able to give you definitive information next week. I’ll be in China where the shoe is releasing next week and hope to put one on.

I'm the same as most here, went half size down after trying on several sizes. 11.5 in cliftons, 11 in 4%.

I use:

Clifton 3 size 10.5

Clifton 5 size 10.5 wide

I bought VF4 (1st edition) - 10.5 - not very confortable

And I bought yesterday the VP4 Fly - 11, much better than 10.5 1st edition

That helps a lot! I also wear a 10.5 in the Clifton, so it sounds like the Vaporfly in 11 would be best. Hope I can get a pair tomorrow!

Hoka size 9 to my VF size 9 seems to be fine.
I feel VF is 1/4 bigger than Clifton or the difference of pair of thick socks.
