I’m looking at changing my 8150 drivetrain to a 1x system but can’t find any information on doing it, and am hoping to avoid wasting $$ trying thing out. Any advice on what works, or doesn’t?

I've been riding that setup this summer (well, 8170). What works: everything. What doesn't work: nothing. Its great, I'm using a standard 8100 series rear derailleur, wireless shifters, chain and 11-34 cassette. I have a Rotor crankset and narrow/wide chainrings in 48t (training) and 52t (racing). Haven't dropped a chain yet.

Just remove the FD and use a NW chainring. There's nothing else to it. I did this on my previous bike (without a clutch) and never had a chain drop or any other issue.
Nice. I have a Shimano crank but was going to put a 50t Q ring on it maybe. Also running 11-34
