I bought a new pair of TR50s back in August '07 and they're still just as good today as back then. I have Speedplay cleats on the soles, and I've found the shoes very easy to get into and out of when I have them clipped to the pedals to begin the bike and then to end it.

I cannot recall when I bought my TR 50's but it is several years ago and they are still going strong - I do not wear socks on the bike - for training or racing and they are very comfortable - I do change out the insole Superfeet so had to go half a size bigger. Great shoes.

I got a pair of Adidas Tri Carbon for Christmas...and took them down with me to Trinidad for the year. They did not hold up very well at all!!! I would strongly recommend not buying them. The metal loop that the strap goes through broke on me...and then the back heal strap broke and then some of the design stuff started pealing off the the shoe. They were terrible... didn't even make it 6 months. I would have tried taking them back to the store but I was overseas...

SHimano for me, keeps my feet from cooking on long hot days good stiff sole, comfy on my feet.. My wife just went with the Specialized Tri shoe and was a toss up between that and the shimano, the Specialized was a little cheaper and fit just a little better for her feet

Yea, but I'm not a gazzilionaire and when you got kids in collage the wallet gets even thinner!

Thanks for all the info. Looks like I will be leaning heavily towards the Shimano's. Sounds like a better shoe at a better price!

TR50 all the way. got mine a little over a year ago, race and train in them, don't wear socks, and they are as comfy as i could ever want. i will definitely buy them again once these wear out (which they show no sign of doing anytime soon).

Have you considered the Sidi T2? You'd have a full range of arch support by adding this shoe. Generally speaking, Adidas is probably the flattest, Sidi has the highest arch, and Shimano is somewhere in between. If you have high arches, at least try the Sidi, it could be worth every extra dollar you spend. As previously mentioned, it's all about the fit. I was considering the shoes you mention, and thought I really liked the TR-50. The guy in the shop had me try the Sidi (I was suspicious he wanted me to buy a more $$ shoe, my 1st time in the shop) and it was head and shoulders a better fit for me. It has also worn very well.

The T2 looks very nice. Do you know if the T2.6 and T2 are any different, besides carbon sole composition?

They are nice shoes, I quite wearing my road shoes after I got them. I'm not aware of any major differences, maybe a few grams less in weight and slightly more stiff. There is about $130 difference in cost. I didn't try the 2.6 on as I didn't want to sleep on the couch when I got home (I probably would have bought them), so I can't comment on a difference in fit.

TR50 V Sidi T2, TR50 no contest for me. I have the T2 and the sole is way too flexy if you are used to a stiff carbon sole. I wear Sidi road shoes, got a great deal on the T2's but they just don't work for me. The TR50 has a good snug fit and the toebox is roomy which seems to leave my feet more relaxed for the run. The T2.6 may be nice but the straps are narrow and the padding is pretty minimal.

I had a pair fo Adidas Mtn Bike shoes start coming apart after the 3rd ride. So, yeah, I recommend staying away from them, too.
