A rather uninteresting question, but I was wondering what the "shelf-life" of tires is? Can you stock up on your favorites (when they're on sale) or should you just buy as you need them?

Keep them talced and you can keep them indefinitely. This is what the Bonneville Salt Flats racers do to their OOPs (Obsolete Out of Production) tires.

For the uninitiated, please explain talcing your tires. Is this regular talcum powder, and sprinkle liberally?
