S-Works Venge Vias with Aerobar

I don't feel like we have a good old using my road bike as a tri bike debate for a while. I have been trialing the new disc venge with their aerobar. So far it is working out quite well and I can get in a good position that is quite comfortable. I have had to slide the saddle forward on the rails and use the more forward pad setting to stop my knees hitting the pads. Given I only do a handful of sprints these days it could be the end of my TT bike, although they are not easy to sell. My next mission will be to investigate how to add etap blips to the bar ends, you can see for now I have left the cable guides in.

Looks good!
What bars are those?

The seat looks angled down a bit too much; could put too much pressure on your arms. Maybe try at horizontal position - this might help with hitting the pads, too.
Also, can't tell, but can you push your seat farther forward by reversing the seat post? If this all works, maybe get a shorter stem as well?

Do happen to know if those will work on a non-VIAS Venge? I have a 2016 Venge Expert that I would like to put aerobars on.

I'm pretty sure they only work on the stem of he new venge. Note these clamp on the stem not the handlebars. If you download the instructions you can see how they work.

Off topic, but have you heard anything about a recall on your bike (specifically the group set)?
I have a friend with one and the dealer has temporarily swapped out the group set with DA as they said there were issues with the Sram brakes to be sorted out.

They only work on the Venge Vias, I've asked Chris at Specialized this specifically.

I've also asked if the Venge Vias stem could be used on a regular Venge so that one could use the aero bars, and the answer to this was a NO as well...

Still waiting to see someone develop a great aero road bar compatible with clips on that isn't either outrageously expensive or heavy... I know there are a few options on the market, but I would have thought that Zipp or Specialized might have something. There used to be the old 3T Zefiro bar, a modern version of that with better cable routing would be nice to see!

I've never really seen the attraction of the vias, but jees, I think I've found my new race bike

That looks awesome.

Swim. Overbike. Walk.

Culprit might have something in the works :)

I remember a company mentioning that last fall, but I couldn't recall who it was specifically.

I think I inquired at the time as to what it might entail, but they weren't yet willing to divulge the details.

Any idea on a time frame?

I know his stem is debuting sometime in the next week. Isn't the Taipei Bike Show soon? If so, I'd imagine it will debut there. I've seen pictures of the prototype and I think it looks pretty sweet :) no idea about price though.

So can you confirm that it might be a stem specific option that clip on bars would mount to without requiring new or proprietary drop bars?

I think that might be my preference as it would allow me to keep the current drop bars without re-cabling.

Based on the details in the install instructions, these are stem mount and I don't see why they would not work on other bikes.

Oh sorry about that, I mis-understood you. They're new aero+road bars along similar lines of the old 3T Zefiro. There's also a new aero stem coming out around the same time.

It may be possible, but bear in mind the venge stem is somewhat flattened not round, it may require longer bolts and even then I am not sure whether it would sit in place as well. I can have a look when I take them off.

You won't need to buy new drop bars but of course buying mine will be better. However, we are launching on indigogo, so won't ship til later in year. Have alot if testing to do on product. Currently in prototype stage. Once funded need to open tooling and retest everything again in priduction version but offering 35% off for first supporters. Pricing will release on March 22 along with details of design. There is nothing like it in the market.

ah sweet - I have a Venge Vias too but didn't know this thing existed. Could be a nice simple way to configure a backup bike. Do they attach/detach fast 'n easy?

Probably the fastest I have seen, as you are only clamping one thing on not two.
