Rusty nuts
What is the best way to clean rust and dirt from nuts and bolts and what is the best way to prevent the form rusting. I'm specially concerned with all the bolts around the cockpit as I sweat to much and washing the bike with soap and water is not enough.

Thanks

I read your subject and thought, "Hey! That's me!", what with being laid up injured from an encounter with a truck, AND the wife gone for 8 weeks! Yup, Rusty Nuts!

As far as your actual question, well, I'm not much help. In 20+ years of riding/racing I haven't ever found a long lasting solution to this problem.

Naval jelly works great for removing rust. You can find this in the paint section of any hardware store, usually next to the paint strippers. It's a pink gelatinous concoction. Just soak your rusty nuts and rinse. (couldn't wait to write that). A light coat of grease will keep them from rusting for a while.
