Run Every Day in January Challenge
OK, just to ensure that Parkito can't sit on the sidelines, here is one that anyone can do well at. You don't have to be fast, and you don't have to run a lot of volume. You just have to get out and run and be consistent.

Rules:
  1. Run ideally once a day
  2. Run for at least 20 minutes
  3. Run as slow or as fast as you want
  4. Post your number of days running once a week on Monday morning
  5. You don't get credit for 2 days running if you run twice in a day...you actually have to get out each day to get credit. Its all about getting in the habit of running....EDIT: for week1, since this is being posted on Jan3rd, you can double up on a few days to get credit for 7 runs, but after that, it is daily running
  • Platinum Club = Run every day in Jan 31 days out of 31
  • Gold Club = Run 6 days per week
  • Silver Club = Run 5 days per week
  • Bronze Club = Run 4 days per week

Note: If on a given week you run 5 days and the following week you run 7 days, you can climb back into Gold Club contention. You need to "average" 6,5,4 days per week to get into the various clubs.

For those of you on Speedy's drop the dough challenge, this might be a great compliment :-).

Who else is in.

I'm shooting for platinum club...hopefully my body holds out and life does not get in the way!

Dev

Oh great, post this challenge on the 3rd, and I missed the 1st. I'm doomed to failure. But I'm in!

Mldenver, sorry for the late post...just came up with the idea during my run this morning :-(

OK, how about we make an exception. For week 1, if you double up on a few days and end up with 7 runs, we'll let people into Platinum club. After that, you have to run every day. What's your goal?

Kurt

I know the real reason you have run every day....Because you have no snow to ski !!!!

But I also know that you are still gonna kick my ass!

Cool, I missed Winterman so I am in!
I have been building run frequency since November and after a bad week over the holidays time to jump back on the wagon!
Platinum Club for me (hopefully)

Kurt, sadly, you get no credit for all those days...just do another 31 days for Platinum club :-).

I just realized that I could technically miss platinum club unless I really suck it up. I have to fly from Ottawa to Tokyo on Jan 16th, and I believe I arrive late on the 17th. I might have to get up at 4 am on Jan 16th just to get 20 min in before heading to the airport, and then cram in 20 min when I get to my hotel late on Jan 17th. This might be my most challenging 2 day stretch. On Jan 25th when I head home from China, I have an ultra long day on 25th that will last 36 hours, as I move back in time when crossing the international date line! No problem finding 20 min that day!

DB, I have to admit that the underlying reason for this silliness is because we have limited snow here in Ottawa and I have a big Feb/Mar of XC ski racing planned. Couple that with business travel where it is hard enough to get your ass moving, and I need something like this to motivate me to run, as it is the most portable and flexible form of fitness available.

You could go to the head and run in place for twenty minutes on the plane!! C'mon man, be creative.

I'm in and grateful as heck that you didn't start this on 1/1. I'll have to see if I can run today...

Cousin Elwood, get to a treadmill, put it at 5-8% grade at 5 mph and start shuffling for 20 min. No matter how sore you are, you can do this. The uphill helps when you are sore (no pounding) and the slow speed helps overall...no excuses!

Must.........resist.........challenge..........aarrggghhhh!!!

Resistance is futile...........I'm in.

I'll be looking at silver, with maybe a little gold trim. My planned lunch-time run today will make me three-for-three!!

My biggest challenge is going to be days when I'm in the mountains skiing. Usually I have nothing left in the legs when I'm done (dang bumps!), so it looks like I'll have to brave the cold morning to get in a short run.

Ok, I'll play. I think that the silver club, and maybe the Gold Club has an invitation for me. With the skiing I'm trying to do, that would be all I could fit in.

BTW, What races are on your schedule?

Thanks
