More length options. A bit more stack.

Any idea if there will be a 120mm length stem as part of the v2 line?

There is a solution coming that will allow a 120mm stem, though not the same style as the AU

Just different hole drillings, particularly the underside brake cable exit being better aligned and the rear exit being enlarged

Would there be any reason why this wouldn’t fit a specialized shiv steerer tube? I tried to put the stem on this afternoon and with the shim removed it was still too small to fit on my steerer tube. Has anyone else had this problem?

It is definitely being used on Shivs. Can you loosen the bolts? Failing that - a pic would help

Just bought one for my Shiv TT as it was half the price of the TriRig or Pro Missile Evo...anyway, it didn’t come with the 1 inch steer shim. Any idea how to obtain one? Thanks!

I will try and get a picture tonight. I took the bolts out completely. Still not luck. I have a Zipp stem on it now and it is so easy to put on makes me feel like I will break something forcing the Aeria on.

If I get mine on my shiv tri you can have my shim. But for some reason I might not be able to install as it seems not to fit. If I do not end up getting this thing on I’m going to return it.

Most shops should have some floating around. Or ask the PD distributor. USA team are pretty good at sorting that type of thing out.

I have had three different brand stems on this all go on smooth no issues. this goes down about 3-4mm and is shaving the steerer tube and will just stop. I removed the shim and the screws are backed all the way out.

Did you try removing the expander plug. Sometimes that extra pressure outward causes some steerers to be more difficult to put a stem on.

With it removed it may be easier. Worth a try.

Josh beat me to what I was going to say, but I'll reiterate anyway ;-)
The expander can flare out the steerer tube, making it difficult to fit tight tolerance stems.
Loosen that off then try again (don't forget to tighten the expander afterwards).

I will try. These specialized ones are ridiculously hard to remove.

That worked. Was still tight but was able to get it on.

cyclenutnz, the 100mm version of the stem says it can fit a DI2. I assume doing so renders all buttons (and charging port) inaccessible. Is that correct?

That is correct. I've suggested that it not be described as Di2 compatible given that an EW90 fits but it's not accessible. There is a different Di2 solution on the way.

cyclenutz - thanks for all the amazing information in this thread.

Do you have any sense of when PD might be releasing the 120mm Aeria Ultimate?

Just to be clear - it's not an Aeria Ultimate stem that's coming. It's a stem with more length options that can fit the HSF Aeria bottle. It loses other features along with a lot of weight.
I have a production sample now so I think that means September-ish for the USA, a little later for the rest of the world. I'm never very clear on what happens in the distribution channels so don't quote me.

Thale lack of access is a little frustrating, have to admit I purchased it partly to enable me to hide the junction box away - have been wondering how to go about it. Guess not! Fits great, looks great. The HSF looks good but maybe a little big (Argon 18 E-117 small frame - I’m not the tallest!). Will have to do some thinking. Possibly use the bar end junction box and some imaginative routing, or wireless unit, and take the hit on stripping the stem down to charge the battery. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

If you have a bento box behind the stem you can but the junction box in there.

I used a 4-pot b-junction hidden in the stem then connected that to the 3-port a-junction in the bento box behind the stem. Wired up like this:
  • L-extension, L-brake and R-brake connected to 4-port b-junc. hidden in stem
  • R-extension with inline ANT+/B'tooth unit connected to 3-port a-junc. through the stem and into bento box
  • 4-port connect to a-junc. in Bento box with short cable.
  • remaining port on the a-junc. connected to rest of the system

I have 3 wires peaking out of the top-cap and into the bento box which makes the junction box very accessible

But an Aeria Ultimate Stem V2 is still coming?

They already have a v2 with a larger opening in the rear of the stem. I guess if a new one came out it would be a v3. I purchased knowing I wouldn't have access to the a junction box if put inside the stem. But I have the old peasant style external battery di2.
