@uphillsgood: yes, you will receive it with the chain rings installed, the chain rings are included.

@tillquist: man, you are quick :-). Yes, we are very happy and proud to announce that we are equipping Team Movistar this year with Type S for Campagnolo cranks. Unfortunately I cannot say yet if this will be available for the after market.

It could be cool if there was an alternative to the SRM/Campagnolo power meter.... :-D

Damn, it would be nice for us Campa-enthusiasts to be able to run a full Campagnolo-groupset AND have a powermeter that (hopefully) would still be affordable.

Please consider making this available for the crowd, thanks :-)

Just curious what it would take to move my P2M FSA Gossamer on my Cervelo P2 classic using the BSA68 MegaExxo BB to the new Cervelo P2 with BBRight BB. Are there any adapters I can use?

Hi sp1ke,

you would need the Rotor 4624 bottom bracket for BBRIght. I will double check to be 100% sure - we haven't had that case yet. The axle length is fine.

Hi Nicholas,

Close, and a rare exception to your otherwise spot-on technical advise. :-)

Because of the slightly larger diameter for FSA cranks (24mm plus a tolerance; Shimano is 24mm minus a tolerance), the Rotor won't work.

FSA offers a similar concept BB, with dimensions in the bearings to match their crank.
The FSA BBright PF30 to MegaExo BB is what you want.

Hi Damon,
I see the new P2 comes with an FSA crank. Is that mounted with adapters for BBRight or is it a custom crank?

Hi sp1ke,

The crank on the new P2 is a custom for BBright. It has the oversized 30mm spindle and fits the 79mm wide BBright bottom bracket shell. Asymmetric, stiffer, lighter!

Nicolas: Thanks for info.

Last question. Can I use a set of Shimano 105 5700 chainrings on the Gossamer crank? I have a brand new set and it'd be nice to be able to use them.

S

Nicolas,
I was happy to see that P2M is now an option for DA-9000 users. It looks like if I want to use my Dura-Ace chain rings, my option is to get the Type S with Rotor 3D. I have a standard english BB. Do I need an adapter to use these cranks and if so, does it come with the unit?
Thanks.

Hi,

Looking for a power2max for my Cervelo S2. Sorry I am new to this. I think it has FSA Megaexo which is the BSA style correct? I see the bearings that look like they are on the outside. I don't need to get a new BB right? I am just looking at the power2max with FSA gossamer crank. Will this work on my bike? I am trying to learn all of this before I buy to make sure that I don't get the wrong one.

Thanks for your help,

Andrew

Hi guys,

first of all, my apologies for the late answers. I simply missed the notification. My bad.

@Y-Tri: thanks :-)
@uphillsgood: yup, you can use the 105 chain rings without problems.
@ptourkin: that's right, you can use the Rotor 3D in the 4-bolt configuration. No adapter needed to install it in a Dura Ace bottom bracket.
@amccabe: if you have an S2 with FSA cranks and an external bottom bracket you can use the FSA Gossamer model without problems.
@Tillquist: thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the help, I got it fixed without emailing.

I was also wondering: If I'm doing a solid block of 45(ish) minutes on the rollers, would you suggest freewheeling a few times during the interval to prevent drift? (given a 10-15 min warm up prior) If so, how long and how frequently might be best.

Cheers

Hi cambridge_dixie,

no need to freewheel during an interval. I usually freewheel once after the warm up, but even that is not strictly necessary. Your power2max won't drift, because the zero gets done automatically every time you coast for more than 2 seconds and if the temperature changes between each time you coast the temperature compensation mechanism takes care of things.

If you are indoors on your rollers and haven't just brought in your bike from the cold the zero offset will remain unchanged. If you keep your bike in the cold and train in the warm (or the other way around) I would recommend coasting after about 10 - 15 minutes just to be extra safe.

Hi Nicolas,

I'm considering a power2max for use with 2 bikes running Shimano Dura-Ace 9000:

- Bike 1, uses standard BSA threads with external Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 cups
- Bike 2, curently uses a Trek BB90 pressfit SRAM GXP bearing kit (I plan to install Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 on this bike)

I'd like a lighter crank, but it seems the following could be a good solution as I need BB90 compatibility:

- power2max Type S Rotor 3D
- 110mm Shimano 4 bolt

3 questions 1 assumption:

1. I need to get Trek's Shimano bearing kit for the BB90 bottom bracket

2. The images on your site show Rotor's 2013 cranks, will the Type S ship with Rotor's 2014 cranks

3. I will use my existing Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 chain rings. Do I need a chain ring bolt kit or can I use the Shimano supplied bolts.

4. Will the drive side Rotor crank arm be mounted to the power2max or do I need the Rotor lock ring tool

Thanks,

Greg

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the structured question, makes it a breeze to answer :):
1) Correct
2) We still have the 2013 cranks, as we receive 2014 later as an OEM customer. Sorry about that.
3) You can use the Shimano bolts
4) We can install it for you

The Rotor 3D 4-bolt is just about to come available at the factory, but it being a specialty item we haven't ordered many of it yet, so earlier ordering will get it faster during the stocking up phase - apologies for that, but with about 25 new variants it takes a while until all stock is in place.

Cheers

Hi Greg,

the Rotor 3D 4-bolt is among the first to become available. If you order now it should be with us in one to two weeks and then go straight to you.
