Any idea why Trek doesn't have a carbon disc frame in their lineup? That strikes me as odd given the direction of the industry.

Because trek is about being fast and brakes are slow! Seriously though, Disc is heavier and less aero... and rim brake gives you plenty of stop on the road.

I was referring to their cross lineup. Then again I don't really know much about cross other than I *need* a cross bike.

Oh, I think maybe trek is testing the water with the Crockett? See how many disc to canti they sell before adapting to the carbon model? I know a lot of cross racers(Some Pro level) that prefer canti, so its hard to say

Very nice. I'm digging the new P3 without the more exaggerated curved seat tube of the older version, as well as the tighter front end (cables/fork, etc).

As for the Shivs, I really like the TT version, but the Tri version is a toad with the disproportionally fat (thick/deep, however you wish to describe it) HT/downtube. I know several others are doing the deeper HT foil (P3 included), but I think where the Shiv Tri goes wrong is that it bleeds into the downtube too far so that visually the front/rear lines of the downtube aren't parallel.

Don't just get a great (expensive) bike - get a decent (free) position!
Is that a massive 3" seat to arm pad drop you're running there?
Do your very good purchase a favour and get aero on it.
You'll go even faster!!!!
Lovely bike.

Do you mean that it's not enough drop? because I got fitted using the juteau-cantin method and I feel very confortable. But it's hard for me to say if I'm aero.

What's a good drop?

Wasn't aimed at you - just ignore me.
Probably shouldn't have posted it anyway; getting old and cranky.

Don't listen to him, you can't tell anything about a persons position just looking at a bike with out a rider on it.

Much less tell anything about a position not knowing the size of the bike, seeing the picture from an angle, etc.

It's about as daft a thing as something that someone can say.

You're absolutely right.
They may have very short legs, a really long torso and short arms.
Or be set up for RAAM.
In which case I absolutely make a full apology and post retraction
As I said above, I should've just kept my fingers off the keyboard.
I do maintain that it's a lovely bike.
My full apologies to all affected.

Sweet! I've read some unflattering stuff here on ST about the E-112's aero properties, but I've always liked the way they look, especially with those Boyds... That wheel/tire combo is killer.

Do you know of/have any tunnel data on the new Vision 3 Spoke? Very interesting looking wheel and love the stealth black version I saw in one of the Eurobike recaps.

Nice top tube storage mounts. It looks like so far just the P5, the new P3, the SC, the new SC, and the BH are the only bikes so far sporting those mounts. They make for a very clean mounting of top tube storage packs (like a speedpack 483D, etc.). I think we'll be seeing many more bikes with those, so I think you got yourself a cutting edge machine.

Thanks guys - real pleased with the P3, it maintains speed better than any bike I have ridden....although I could be a touch lower in the front, running 3.75" of drop (top saddle to aero pads). Just ran that setup at IM Louisville (minus the rear cages) and the fit felt spot on. Will be adjusting fit during the next few months, but already set a PR for the 70.3 distance on his beauty prior to IMKY. I may not screw with what works!
