Just finished IM OZ at Port Macquarie with WTC taking over from IMG as the organisers. Last IM I did was at Forster in 2002 so found it hard to compare WTC's effort. Just some observations:
Registration: Only 4 tables for registration - bit of a wait: Rating 6/10
Expo: what expo: Rating 2/10
Carbo Night: Weather affected: no rating given
Carbo Night Food: Rating 3/10
Bike Racking and Transition Area: 8/10
Volunteers: Rating 10/10
Bike Course: Good 2 loop course, only complaint is the water at Lauriton tasted funky: Rating 7/10
Run Course: Great course, especially the run through town 4 times - got to see lots of supporters Rating 8/10
70.3 run the same time as the IM: Both lots of competitors on the bike course at the same time: WTF rating 0/10
Finish Chute: Rating 9/10 (would have been 10 but missed seeing my wife - my bad)
Recovery Marquee: Medical and Massage areas good - Food area very small - could not get in. Rating 4/10
Considering we had to pay 12 months in advance, WTC promoted this would be the biggest and the best, I would give WTC a C-. The overall event a pass mark (just) only because of the volunteers, they saved WTC's bacon.
