Sadly Alistair was killed in Austria in a bicycle accident. My condolences to all his family, friends and competitors who had the honor of meeting this young man. Taken far too soon...RIP.

How tragic! I chatted with Alistair and his father at many 70.3 races. Such a nice guy and his racing was on the upswing. He'll be missed on the circuit.

I am deeply saddened by this news. I only raced with Alistair once in 2017; but it was his performance at Powerman Zofingen last year that inspired me to sign up for the monster duathlon. I was looking forward to seeing him and racing with him again next week in Switzerland. Whenever I corresponded with him on social medial, he was always so open to giving me his thoughts and advice and he was always so positive in his responses. He was one of the few vocal proponents of duathlon and someone I looked up to. He may not have known it, but he pushed me to be a better athlete. From hundreds of miles away, he routinely pushed me outside of my comfort zone - and I'm very thankful I got to know him. The multisport community has lost a great athlete and the world has lost a great young man. My thoughts are with his family.

I've seen his name on the results of a few races I'd been at. Quite impressive.

A real loss for the sport. Wishing the best to his family and friends.

Billy Joel said it best in his song "Only the good die young."

Enjoy the journey everybody. We know not how long and where it will take us - but, we can make the journey good.

I saw this on a white board in a window box at my daughters middle school...
