Quick release thru axle

I've recently bought a disc brake road bike and I'm not happy with the thru axle. It's really annoying to get the wheels out especially on the road. Any suggestions on quick release thru axle? I found a Mavic one but I'm not keen on spending $150 on it. Cheers

You just need to practice. Unless you're taking the wheel off every day (ie to fit in a car) then the benefits to the through axle are worth the slight inconvenience.

What part of the process is it that isn't working for you?

Need the specs of the current thru axle.
For quick clean and easy see if there is a DT Swiss RWS would be the one to look at.

Especially on the front wheel, I am faster with the through axle than I am with a QR. It takes a lot longer unless you have filed off the lawyer tabs

Mavic Speed Release isn't backwards compatible with standard thru-axles, so definitely don't spend that $150. It won't work on your bike if your bike doesn't already have it. Ditto the RATS system, or any of the other "quick release" thru axle variants. If you've got thru-axles that screw in to threads in the fork/dropouts, you're stuck with thru axles that screw in. Fastest/most convenient thing IMO is to carry a tiny ratcheting bit holder with the correct size head in it, and use that to screw the axle in/out.

How is winding out a regular threaded thru axle slow?
I have always found it to be quick and easy.
Making sure the rotor is aligned to go in the caliper is more of a fiddle, but still no problem.
