oh geez...i think bulk cable come in 6ft, but they make longer ones for tandems and recumbents.

It's always safe to get tandem cables. Way too long for most applications, but it's guaranteed to be long enough. With bar-end shifters on the aero-bars, sometimes the standard offerings don't make it.
