Who here knows where the name "Cannondale" came from, and why that name was chosen?

How we got the name "Cannondale"

Ordering our first telephone from the pay phone at the nearby Cannondale train station in 1971, Peter Meyers was asked how our still-unnamed company should be listed. Peter (who's still with us) paused, said "Um...Cannondale?," and the rest is history.
