Quassy, Disc or 60mm
Looking for some input on wheel choice for 70.3 Connecticut in June. I have the old Flo disc, and Bontrager Aeolus XXX 60. I am 65kg, 5’10 ish. Hilly/enough corners to leave the disc at home???

Unless the entire bike leg is like riding up the Alp d'Huez (it is not), disk is always the right choice. Feel free to copy and paste that when somebody asks that question next week about XYZ course.

I've raced Quassy twice and used a disc both times. Last year my tri bike shifters broke a few days before the race and I put the disc on the road bike - still managed to post the quickest bike time. There are lots of hills, but there are also lots of semi-false flats where you can stay in the aero bars and any aero advantage (disc) will help. I hope to be around 4-5 min quicker this year on the tri bike compared to trying to ride in the drops on my road bike (which I rarely use - but it was good to have!). If you're M40-44 disregard this post, though.

I have always used a disc at Quassy. Never would want anything else.

Perfect thanks guys. I was leaning towards the disc but just wanted to hear what the course was like. Anything steep/tricky corners?

There are a couple of tricky corners. There's a U-turn at mile 37. Plenty of short steep climbs in the first half and there is one, very long (5 miles or so) section from 22 to 27 where you do nothing but climb.

Disc is still the way to go

Here's the elevation chart
