What configuration on all bikes? Very odd that the P2 and P3 are so close to each other

Error bars

Somehow the P2 beat the P3

That's all I got.

That's a very short yaw sweep and I'm confused with how a 54 p3 is slower that a 56 p2.

I'd be interested to know when this was done. Even a year ago there was the Shiv, Speed Concept, P4 and the new Felt DA (I think, right?).

Love those results (CD0.1 here) just wish it was released by Cervelo.

It looks like we are talking about 100g of drag across the board though. How many seconds is 100 extra grams of drag?

Isn't that about 1 second per km? I was already doing the math since I have a Seduza... :)

And only using our test protocol over a ridiculously short yaw sweep and so few data points without revealing setup configurations on all bikes

In this particular visit we were comparing against some specific brands that we wanted to know information about during a certain development process. Wind tunnel research is expensive - it's not just the time to use the tunnel, but also buying bikes, travel, hotels, etc... Because of that, we don't test 25 bikes each trip, we take a certain line up we want to learn about.

So when was this trip and why wouldnt you want to test against the top bikes of other manufacturers? Given the cost of tunnel time. Have you compared the Illicito against the P4, Speed Concept, Shiv or DA?

Yeah, because a P5 is really easy to obtain, especially when this study was conducted....

We used identical protocol on all of the bikes. No base bar/stem/aero bar, no saddle, all openings on seat posts covered, hardware removed, drivetrain on every bike, identical steerer tube height. When we ran the tests I was very specific when I asked the A2 guys what they thought about our protocol - they had no issues and agreed that it was well thought out. I was open to changes if they thought that we were off.

Any idea which year models of the competitors bikes were tested? Was this done at LSWT, A2, TAM, or another tunnel?

Also, wheels and aerobars used?

OK, big shot.

Where's the P4. And the Speed Concept. And the DA (new or old) and the shiv.

Put the P5 in pink if it makes you feel better.

Additionally, when was this conducted? I didn't see a date, all I saw was the chart, maybe I skipped over that part.

the p3 and p2 are only ~5g of drag apart, so if you don't have a very careful protocol you might have the p2 come out ahead on some runs.

it would be interesting to see the QRs with mannequin aboard, to see if the different shape persists.

Needs more detail. Pictures of the test setups would be nice.

OK, sorry. I didn't mean to come off that snarky. But he did mean P5, in addition to inquiring about the P4/SC, which is a valid question to ask.

Please proceed...

Do you mean why don't we take the yaw sweep out to 15, 20 or 25 degrees? Because we don't think we need to. The amount of time a person would spend at 15 degrees of yaw or wider in the real world is minimal. As you go faster, your degree of yaw is reduced - regardless of wind direction, whether you are a pro or recreational athlete.
