Purchased 2nd hand bike, no idea what it is plus other questions
Quote | Reply
So I've recently purchased a TT bike from a friend who does has decided they are never going to use it and that its above their level. Issue is i have no idea what the bike is brand/model wise and neither did they when they got it 2nd hand from a shop. So some questions...
  1. Does anyone have any idea what brand/model it might be if any?

    1. To me it looks like a Dolan TT bike shape
  2. I haven't seen valve caps like these before, are they normal? Do i need an adapter? Should i just get the tyres re done completely?
  3. Some recent TT bike have behind the seat post storage options, do this shaped seat post seem like it could support one?

    1. I hate having to use a back on the saddle or a bottle care for tools etc
  4. Some recent TT bikes seems to have ways of attaching items to the rear of the saddle but not to the saddle itself, does this area look like it would support that and if so what kind of bold and mechanism would i need to look at to get something attached?

I will be sending it over to my mechanic friend to give it a once over before riding outdoors but overall it seems pretty good to me

That's a presta valve extender. I have one on my Hed front wheel. You just inflate it with a presta pump head as usual.

Nice bike IF it fits you.

DON"T UNSCREW THOSE VALVE CAPS!! They are not caps - they are Valve Extenders, necessary when the valves on the tire's tubes aren't long enough for deep rimmed wheels. Just push your presta pump on them, and pump away. If it feels like nothing is happening, it's because the valve is "stuck" from sitting a long time - stick a wire (paper clip) in the extender and bump the vale head.

Just an additional observation: Those look like tubular tires.

Think they are Conti 4000s, ectually.

3. . . behind the seat post storage options, do this shaped seat post seem like it could support one? No. Bodge always an option

3.1 Hate having to use a back [of] the saddle or a bottle [cage] for tools etc. Why?

4. . . . . ways of attaching items to the rear of the saddle but not to the saddle itself . . . No, or maybe, too opague a question.

I believe you can use the tririg beta bottle carrier with that seatpost. Seems easy enough to just use one of the many solutions that bolts to the saddle though.

You're probably right.

I can't tell if that is the sidewall or basetape next to the rim

I might be blind but it seems that the saddle rail is MISSING? Not sure what's actually holding the saddle in place.
Seconding the tririg carrier recommendation, just don't overload it - mine snapped a few time when loaded with 2 bottles and a spare kit wedge. Tririg replaced it both times.

Next races on the schedule: none at the moment

Most questions already covered, but...

Open mold frame.
Yup, that's a valve extender.
The hole at the back of the rail that the seat binding mechanism attaches to is designed to accommodate a plug in bottle carrier like the Tririg beta.
