Does this really only apply to triathlon and not to time trials for us road cyclists? (And I do notice you refer to the Tactical only as a "tri bike" vs. the more generic "time trial bike").

That's a spolier! It'll be interesting to see just how many people read that last paragraph carefully.

parenthetically, with today's excellent snub-nosed saddle options being up to 9cm further aft at their 65mm width point, the days of steep steep seatpost angles are past. I recently had a client that could NOT get rearward enough on the right saddle with the right pelvic tilt and muscle engagement eductation... needs a new bike.

Thank you for your post.

You are the first person to ask that question. Maybe the athletes that have purchased the bike so far don't generally do TT's. Now that we are asking for finishes to do the payouts maybe I will get some customers asking. If there is demand to include time trials I may include those as well.

The point of PremierBike's "Sponsored Athlete Program" is to encourage athletes to do more events and enjoy all aspects of biking. Time Trials would certainly fall in to that category.

FYI - We are putting together the payouts for all athletes that purchased a Tactical and finished a race in 2017. We have sent emails to all the athletes but I wanted to post it here just in case anyone did not get the notice.

Remember, you don't have to win or place - just finish the race (Sprint, Olympic, 1/2 or Full Distance). Complete details can be found here:

https://www.premierbike.com/...ored-athlete-program

Same program for all existing and new customers in 2018 - lets get out their and enjoy our sport!!!

Hi Dan,
on the verge of making the purchase, but had a few more questions I couldn't find while reading through the postings:
1) XS is confirmed to be paired with 150 crank correct?
2) XS will still have Pioneer Powermeter? No issues with frame clearance type of issues?
3) Do you take requests for upgrade to dual sided power? I believe I saw another person post they upgraded to dual but wasn't sure if that was via you.
4) Is it one chain included or was it 2? For some reason I thought I read Slowman mention 2 chains were included.

Thanks

Soya - thank you for your post.

The XS will have a 155 crank and will ship with a dual power meter as standard. We are testing sample cranks right now to confirm the item. Shimano does not make a 155 so we are working with another manufacturer. Once testing is complete I will update the specification data.

The bike will ship with 1 Ultra Optimized chain.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the quick answers.
So just to clarify, it’s a dual sided pioneer powermeter included in the full package? Not just left crank Pioneer?
Sorry for being a bother, but wanted to confirm this awesome deal!

Dan, I will be purchasing an XS this Spring and I like the idea of the TT payout. I plan on doing tri's and TT's.

Also, are you still planning on an aero road bike and possible package deal?

Thank You.

Yes we have completed the road bike design items and are in pre-production testing. I'm hoping for May/June 2018.

this is such a smartly designed product!

echoing an earlier question, what specifically makes this non UCI legal? wondering if it can be worked around.

The way I read the rules one must have daylight between the rear wheel and the seat tube portion of the frame. We shield the rear wheel/tire for better aero with the frame. We have a number of areas where we do not meet 3:1 airfoil rule (although I'm not sure if that is still in effect).

We have had athletes use the bike at many UCI events in 2017. I'm not sure how consistent rule enforcement is at events.

Dan, given your grasp of the market you likely already know this, but you should consider producing this new 155mm PM crankset in numbers beyond those needed for Premier bike sales. The options for PM-ready cranks shorter than 162.5 to 165mm are extremely limited.

From my recent experience helping someone put together a 155mm PM crankset it came down to two options: 1) Rotor (3D+ or limited past production 3D24) plus Powertap C1 or P2M spider and 2) Cobb plus Powertap C1. Finding the 155mm Rotor is challenging and PT scaling back availability of the C1 is concerning for the long term.

Anyway, as always, looking forward to seeing more of your great offerings!

Just a reminder to all of our athletes receiving bikes in the next few days. The Tactical 2.0 will arrive almost completely assembled. If you are handy - it will be very easy to get riding right away. For anyone that does not feel comfortable - remember that we pay $200.00 to a fitter of your choice to do your fit. Most fitters are very happy to do some small items like adjusting chain length, making sure the DI-2 wire is connected to the battery in the seat tube and attach the extension tubes with the four bolts, etc.. So please feel free to schedule your fit and have your fitter send us their PayPal account and we will make sure they are paid before your scheduled appointment.

An FYI to the folks getting their bike soon. You will not be getting the draft box. I was surprised it wasn’t included and thought it was a mistake. It wasn’t. Apparently, they are not ready from the factory and it’s unclear when they will arrive. Even though Dan had been communicating with me on this, I don’t think this has been communicated well.

We are about 30 days out in the re- worked box. It’s been a challenge but I believe the issues are resolved.

Before you buy or waste too much time finding a different solution, check with Dan to see if the old version will work for you. Sounds like they work fine with a slight modification. He’s sending me one and I’ll make it work. Can’t thank Dan enough for his help as I get my bike built up!

After our discussion, I decided to make the modification and just send everyone the current rear storage until the new ones come in. Thugbuster is right; the current version will work until the new ones come in. That is better solution than no rear storage.
