God bless her family and especially her poor kids. I can't imaging three small children loosing both parents with in such a short period of time. My heart and prayers go out to them.

thank-you for posting the pictures- and thanks to jarhead for posting the Fox TV link
I am stunned and saddened beyond words....
I woke up in the middle of the night last night wanting an answer to why-and how?
could swimming into a bunch of jellies do this? was my thought process
She and her husband raised those kiddos right and taught them how to deal with grief
I only hope that with this, the toughest of tests, they will all endure...

I will be doing my first ironman at WI in 2008. I think it's a good idea to sign up to either sponsor her charity, or a similar scholarship for her children. Ideas?

How very sad. My prayers and condolences are with her family, especially her children. How unfair to lose both parents in such a short time at such a young age. Hopefully there will be some type of fund set up for them soon, if so, please post info here.

Can someone send me the mailing address? (Email to Steph4tsu@yahoo.com) I would like to send a card. I was next to the ambulance when they brought her up. I saw her mom get in the front seat and her children taken away in another car. I have thought about her ever since then. It absolutely breaks my heart to hear this news. Does anyone know exactly why she went under? Her family is in my prayers.

When there was no update posted earlier in the day, I was so afraid that this would be the outcome. How horrible for her children to have to deal with the death of a parent again. My heart breaks for them and for her husband.

Please consider making a donation to Journey of Hope in Dorothy's name. It is a fitting tribute.

Godspeed, Dorothy.

I want to share this message that also went out today. I love Dorothy and want you all to know that she has touched us all.
Upbeat, caring, inspirational, crazy, pink, beautiful, funny, happy, determined, giving, intelligent, great mother, loving wife, and one of our dearest friends. This is how we will remember our Dorothy.
Today Dorothy said goodbye to this world and moved on into the hands of the Lord. She left doing what she loved and for a cause she was so passionate. The Journey of Hope
http://www.johgriefsupport.org/founders.htm. Her organs were donated so she will save several lives and a part of her will live on within them. Her soul will move on to the Lord where it will be loved and cherished. I'm sure she will have him grinning from ear to ear just as she makes us all smile in her presence.
Our prayers focus now on those trying to understand and deal with their loss. Please pray for Mike, the kids, and all their families during this very difficult time.
When I learn more about how we will celebrate her life I will pass that information on to everyone.
I know many of you are asking what you can do to help. Once I know more about their plans we can coordinate meals and any other areas where Mike feels they may need assistance.
I attached a couple of pictures I thought I would share with you.
I will also keep all of you in my prayers as well as I know you are mourning her passing as I am. Communicating with you has helped me deal with this tragic event.
Thanks again for all your thoughts and continued prayers.

Jody

What a beautiful lady - such spunk and love! Prayers to her family and friends dealing with this hard time.
I caught this thread earlier in the week and had hoped that by the time I logged back on she would be on the road to recovery, did not expect her to pass, very sad.

Hello

Oh my god, I'm so sorry, this is so sad. I can still hear her singing as she was swimming along; this is something that will be with me forever.

I will continue to keep her family and friends in my prayers.

Sincere condolences to Dorothy's family during this difficult time. As was the case at IM FL 2006, our community has again lost a fine individual this year. My thoughts are with Dorothy and those that love her.

Ironman is such an uplifting experience, it is a culmination of hopes and dreams and this sort of thing is not supposed to happen. I am so sorry. My heart goes out to the family.

No we do not know the exact cause of death. Because they donated her organs, an autopsy cannot be performed. The important thing is that she was never in pain.

We have lost another one from our tri family, and while Dorothy is now in a world away from us, my thoughts go to her kids who carry on with her spirit and that or their late father. What a tough blow to the little ones! All the best to her family!

sincerely
