I think it's really cool that you would be on here, taking questions and actually providing answers. I almost want to buy the V800 just to affirm your customer service!
I apologize if these questions have been asked already. I haven't the time to wade through all the posts.

Is there some other way for the V800 to get heart rate data without the heart monitor strap? Maybe something smaller that goes around the other wrist? In the pool I suppose it wouldn't matter but just the thought of using a chest strap when running or cycling makes me itchy.

Is the display customizable? I use Wahoo devices on my bike and I changed the display to show cadence (big text), speed (medium) and distance (small). Can I change the watch display to tell me just the data I want to know?

Is the shoe sensor only needed for indoor running, on a track or treadmill? If I use it, do I have to switch feet to ensure one leg doesn't get bigger than the other?

When the swimming stuff gets updated, what will it tell me? I haven't used anything to track my swimming so what good will it do me to start now?

Do you offer financing plans so I can afford the V800 and all the extra parts?

Yes - heart rate is via Bluetooth Smart. Any heart rate device that uses Bluetooth Smart will work.. HOWEVER, try one on (the new straps).. Use it.. They are so soft and comfortable now it's insane - you forget you're wearing it after 5 minutes. Seriously just give it a shot!

Fully customizable. Anything you want.. Up to 4 rows, as little as 1 if you want the digits BIG

It's light and you really don't notice it.. It's best for indoor running, but outdoor use you'll get some additional metrics like cadence and stride length.. Plus I like the pace reaction time better with footpod.

Can't share the entire detail list yet, but you can expect to see the standards like pace, laps, stroke count, stroke length, distance..etc..

I got the V800 a few days ago and I really enjoy the watch.

However, is there anything that can be done to the Training Sounds? I can barely hear the watch beeping! Even with the vibrate on it can be hard to tell if I hit my auto lap (this is just an example. I can tell I would not be able to do any interval training with this watch unless I can hear when to switch interval.

Also, I can't seem find a way to have the back light on at all times when running at night.

Hinke,

When you have started your chosen sport profile and begun your exercise, press and hold the top left button for 2-3 seconds. This brings up an "In Training" menu, where, amongst other things, you can turn the backlight on for the session.

I guess this is what Chris means by soft and comfortable. That's from my 9-mile run this morning. Actually, the strap itself is very very comfortable. The problem is that the pod with the electronics is relatively heavy. Kind of like how Polar's stride sensor is such a Goliath compared to other foot pods. That's not an issue when cycling, but when running it has more momentum as it (or, rather, you) bounce up and down. As you can see, it doesn't take long for that become painful. (And no, I'm not wearing the strap especially tight; in fact, the problem is worse if I loosen it.) OTOH, it probably says something about my running form too. I guess if the H7 doesn't support running dynamics directly (like Wahoo or Garmin) I have an indirect indication ;^)

For comparison, my H7 electronics pod without a strap (but with a battery) weights 26g. The Wahoo TICKR Run (same conditions) weights 16g.

That's not fun.

For what it's worth, our internal customer care team has a system that tracks complaints on specific issues - and I just looked at this and came out with 17 complaints. We've sold 7 figures+..

That doesn't make it suck less for you, just a point of reference.. We've found that most cases were due to it being loose. Or when it starts to stretch out and be worn. Let me know and I'd be happy to replace if it's worn.

Try MioLink. Works well with my V800. The only problem i have had is that I need the miolink to be on quite tight. I therefore normally prefer the chest strap and use the Miolink mainly in the gym.

Thank you for the offer Chris, but I'm okay with the H7. The H7 is new with my V800, so its strap isn't stretched or worn. I really do think it's a matter of the weight of the pod and my running form not being as "smooth" as it could be. Normally I wear a TICKR on longer runs; I just forgot this morning. (I don't have the problem with the TICKR, presumably because of its lighter weight. And I don't have the problem with the H7 on shorter runs.)

Chris, do you think you could add free HR range lock to the unit? Just like the very basic HR watches? When my coach says: run 30 min at threshold pace I'd like to lock between 160-165. Now it's not possible. I can lock only a whole HR zone.

I already commented on DCRainmaker, but I did not see any mention related to Flow interface/user experience improvement (search module, exercise name, sport profile custom color, add lap marker for post analysis improvement, more reporting capabilities (elevation, sleep time, ...))
From FW side I don't see any short term willingness to improve altibarometer based feature list, such as VAM.

When it comes to historical data porting to flow, we clearly want ALL.
If the bottleneck is time required to import the data, 3 comments:
1. Indicate the estimated import duration to end user
2. Let user select which year range to import
3. If you import your historical data in several steps (y-1, then y-2, ...) make a detection of what was already imported or detection of duplicates to avoid issues
last comment is wrt to data loss at import. There is currently not one to one match between PPT5 data and Flow data (exercise name, weather condition, exercise rating, sickness, .... all those exists in PPT5 but will not have a end point in Flow).
>> We absolutely need exercise name to be implemented and available in Flow before migration!! This data cannot be loss. I cannot imagine scrolling years of data without search module and no indication on what my exercise correspond to (and do not want to open each sessions until I find back the race I did 3 years back)

if you have some time please find below some post I did on Polar forums with some proposal to improve current Flow version.

I dont think the problem is the weight of the pod, I've run 35miles so far this week and neither the footpod or the H7 is "in the way"... I've been using the watch since the middle of June, and the footpod for 6 weeks.

As much as I'd like to switch to the V800 and the 650 and get away from Garmin, this thread has convinced me otherwise. Unless I have backwards compatibility with my Quarq power meter, it's a no go. Too bad too, I was rather looking forward to the change.

did you go into settings on the iPhone and select the bluetooth on? may have to turn it on off a few times and then click on "pair" on the v800?

Try deleting your iPhone from the paired devices list on the V800, then re-pair it. This did the trick for me.

it looks like i have an "export" in the polar flow website.
on a good note.. the last firmware made the issue of the autolap go away (to all people who answered to me.. i did not have the "tap to lap" function set up....

i DO have one big issue.
1) how do i set up the watch to communicate with the H7 via bluetooth
a) when i "touch" the watch to the belt .. it syncs up .. however on my time trialler - if i am in the stretched position .. the heart rate is lost.
b) is there a way to make sure this is always via bluetooth?

this is a good update
however is there going to be a way to integrate this into tools like strava (export all exercises for example) or integrate into tools like tapiirik which connect to other services and synchronise ... its quite hard work to export each exercise individually and import them into the various different analysis programs we all use...

I noticed that in the Polar Flow site that under sport profiles they have added power!

Interestingly enough it doesn't allow it going to the watch yet on sync, but I suspect this is a sign of the much awaited power firmware update being nearly at hand.

Funny thing is, instead of the field showing power, it shows duration.

My guess is power very, very soon...

This sounds like you are pairing via the 5kHz signal instead of BTLE.

Go into General Settings -> Pair and Sync on the watch and try pairing with your H7 that way

should automatically use the 5kHz in swimming profile, AFAIK.

Chris, will the update allow the Viiiiva HR strap to convert ANT+ Power data to the V800 now?
(It does this for iphone already)
