Pittsburgh - CMU - Triathlon
Hey all,

this summer I will be at CMU from july 7 to august 1st (for a computer security workshop).
So of course, the only question is: how is training there?
Is CMU right close to "nature" (no need to drive to go for a ride?), how is running, any teams, races,
how is swimming...

thanks,

Francois

Sorry to say.... CMU is in an urban setting in the section of Pittsburgh called Oakland - lots of traffic & potholes. I did my graduate work at Pitt, which is right next to CMU and used to ride a mtb from Shadyside to school most days. For a roadie/tri cyclist, you should check out Shenley Park (Central Park like park adjacent to the 2 campuses) or drive accross the river to Fox Chapel for some country-ish roads. My time in "the pit" (as my wife and i not so fondly refer to the city) was late nineties and before tri was even a glimmer in my eye - so there may be other options, but if the Park doesn't make for a good ride, you are goint to have to put the rig in the car. The park will definitely work for the run - hilly, like the rest of the town,

By the way.... it can get VERY HOT and HUMID that time of year in the pit.
