Pick it - Build it - Ride it

Just something new that I thought some of you might find quite cool as a concept.

Planet X in the UK are now offering a free service which allows you to go to their workshop, pick all the bits for your new bike, built it with one of their mechanics and also get a further 10% discount off the price!

It's actually not free. They still charge shipping to pay for the experience.

I'd rather just use that charge to pay them to build it then just pick it up.

Good spot. The shipping fee is likely to be pretty nominal and it makes sense for them to cover costs of food etc

So this is where Hennessy got the idea. Or they copied from him.

Once, I was fast. But I got over it.

Right. I don't have a problem with them covering the cost of the experience, but I dont like that they say it's free, then charge you for it. Either it's free or it isn't. No need to be sneaky about it.

I think you’re being a bit picky. Yeah it could be worded a bit better but it does say in bold that there is some charge.

I’m not after a new bike but I can see that it’s something that quite a few people might enjoy

Quite the contrary, it says that it is FREE in bold quite a bit before it mentions anything about a charge.

I agree, it does seem like a cool experience. But the bait-and-switch leaves a sour taste.

Hello guys , I’ve not posted on here for ages .

The delivery charge is being refunded to customers when they build / collect , our “system” doesn’t allow us to remove delivery .

It is meant to be an interesting and engaging experience for both customers and our staff and a fun day out .

Hopefully anyone that comes enjoys it .

We will stick a note in the content notes explaining the above

Dave

Glad it was corrected!

It does sound fun! If I was in the UK and in the market for a new bike, I'd love to do this. I was eyeing some of the PlanetX frames the other day.
