Ortho vs DPM for foot surgery
Need surgery to fix plantar plate tear with subluxed toe resulting in claw toe deformity. Surgery would also include correcting the root of the problem a hallux valgus deformity. Trying to decide between an ortho and DPM, both are fellow trained in foot and ankle.

Maybe consider the after care for each. Who’s got the better rehab clinic.

I don't think you can make a general statement of one being better than the other. a podiatrist (DPM) has more specific time spent on the foot in terms of training, but a foot and ankle fellowship trained orthopod is also good. it is worth looking into reputation overall. there are very good podiatrists, and very not so good foot ortho specialists, and vice versa. it's completely reasonable to ask how many of this procedure they have done, and that says something. disclaimer, i'm an ortho guy, but if I had one of these injuries I would have no problem letting my DPM practice partner fix it.
