BTW did you see how little clothing Biscay was wearing on the bike compared to everyone else?

Seems like that the new Leader board has at least 10 age group me who outswam all of the male pros and most of the Female Pro's.

Ryan Shanahan who is freinds with Big Zach and I is racing his first IM and swam a 52:47. He is racing AG and is a stud on the bike. I am not sure how hard he will ride, but you may see him up at the front before long.

Did the pro's get a 10 min lead ?

pro's had 10 min lead. I just heard a few minutes ago from an athlete I coach who is working as a spotter on the course, that the two lead swimmers were 1-2 OV still at mile 5 on the bike

Seems strange that Biscay only had the 10th fastest swim time (53:xx).. pro times seem a bit slow.

Could there be that much draft effect for the AGers?

at the front the AG men will sort themselves out quickly. Also don't forget that the lead pro's ended up swimming through the AG ranks which could have slowed them.

At steelhead it wsa much faster for me to swim outside everyone then swim with through all the bodies. Not sure w/ a 2 loop swim if the pro's had hte option to swim outside or just had to swim through.

True.. I did this race in '02 and it was prob the roughest swim I've ever done and now there are about 600 more bodies in there!

Plus with all the first timers I'm sure theres a lot more floating debris for the pros to lap through..

ST'er Barry Pollack is now out of the water in 1:17. With his running pedigree there is no telling how many people he will be passing later today.

Cold and now starting to rain on parts of the course. Biscay must be freezing, but she has been training in the cold of switzerland.

How were/are the swim conditions? Rough?

I am so jealous of the weather they are having this year compared to when I raced last year.

That's my girl! You obvisouly haven't seen Hillary in past races! ;)

We've got Eric Nguyen and Matt Nyquist out of the water and in transition right now. Both were looking forward to getting on the bike and out of the water. Now their race can start in earnest. Judging by swim splits alone it is tough going this morning.

How cool is this to be watching Greg Welch interview IMW athletes in the swim-to-bike transition area.

I thought it was funny when he interviewed the guy in the AC DC jersey and was throwing out AC DC lyrics at him. I wish that they had the video coverage at Canada, Welch is a funny guy!

She sounds awesome, maybe I should propose to her before Chip does ;-)
