I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find on ST. Anyone know of sites where you can calculate ows distance. There was a site I used to use but can't find it anymore.

Go to Rout Planner
Choose the "Draw Lines" feature rather than "Follow Roads".
Zoom in on the map to your body of water. Switch the view to satellite instead of map.
Start clicking around to draw the lines. Total distance will appear.
I did this with Ironman Maryland Swim. Example: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27401915

You can measure point to point distances right in Google maps too. Go to the location you want to measure, hover mouse over the start point, right click and select "measure distance", then select the finish point. You can also continue to another point by right clicking again and selecting "distance to here". The points can be dragged around and give you aggregated distance and intermediate distances.
