New bike, new fit - how’s it look?
I got a Premier Tactical back in November, and have finally set it up and on the trainer. I loosely transferred over the position from my former Blue Triad SL. The new extensions are quite a bit higher than the former bike. I’m planning on getting a bike fit (at Fit Werx by Dean Philips), but wanted to know how the initial setup looks. In regards to a bike fit, I was initially fit on a Blue Triad in 2010 at ATA Cycle in Concord, MA, and over the years adjusted things a bit. Four years ago I got the Blue Triad SL and roughly carried the fit over. So, I’m probably in need of a new fit after 10 years of adjusting things myself. It feels very comfortable in the aero position - I like the angled arms a bit more and it feels more locked in with the arms in this position. The arm pads are also closer together and will be more aero (arms and shoulders as a result) than the wider pads on the Blue. Thanks!!!

It looks like your hips aren't rotated forward.

What saddle are you using?

It’s a Dash Stage saddle. Saddle back a bit?

Out of curiousity, why did you go with your hands so high ?

You could probably raise your pads quite a bit without incurring an aero penalty. What events do you do?

Raise the pads up a bit and you're looking like Rohan Dennis :)

I guess maybe this is a big jump from my old position which had my hands maybe at a 5% up angle based on my 'ski' bend extensions. I guess the basic premise is to close the area up between head and hands, and I figure higher hands would do that. I do have a set of extensions that have a lesser degree tilt, and plan to take them when I schedule a proper fit. The issue I know have is how to fit a BTA with such high hands and the extensions angled that much.

I do have some spacers, so can raise the hands a bit - will experiment with that and take the spacers when I get a fit. Over the next several years I'll be focusing on 70.3 and shorter races - IM again when I age up in four years to try to get back to Kona.

Is that your normal cadence? It doesn't look like your riding at any effort at all.

Like others have said, I would raise the pads a good bit. I would venture to guess that you are losing some power with being that hip angle being that closed off.

On that note when you raise your pads, also drop your head and scrunch down... turtle and shrug. Face closer to your forearms. This *might* be more aero but not necessarily.
