I'm not buying anything until ero publishes their hydration shootout. But this looks awesome!

Please, for the love of god, make the bottle so that you can unscrew one piece of it. As much as i love my torpedo, my one complaint is cleaning, or more specifically, drying it.....

It looks like the same bottle except black with a slightly different computer mount...am I missing something in this picture that others are seeing that is drastically different?

I don't see anything drastically different, but my torpedo bottle does not have the plastic plug in front of the straw like is shown in the photo.

As well as the Torhans Aero Z. Total PITA to clean them. That's one nice thing about the Speedfil A2 in that it has a screw off top.

Completely new mounting system, the bottle is virtually splash proof, and the new computer mount is highly adjustable, but small & unobtrusive. An adapter for the computer mount is coming for backwards compatibility to the Torpedo, which is really the biggest complaint we hear, so nice to have that solved.

My guess is the Versa's mounting "plate" will be better aerodynamically under the extensions rather than over as that will drop the bottle lower between your arms, but it can be easily mounted either way. We'll soon have one to test. Looks very nice and stable.

+1 on this.

Thanks Jim. I love Xlab products but it drives me nuts that these companies can only seem to create a bottle that is "virtually"--rather than "actually"--splashproof. I have tested "virtually" every BTA bottle in the market over the last year, and IMHO, they all have some nice features but fail in at least 1-2 key areas--Splashing is nonstarter for me.

It would be nice if a manufacturer could create a bottle that is (1) splashproof; (2) aesthetically pleasing; (3) has the ability to drain all fluid out; (4) has a practical, reliable solution for tucking the straw that actually works ; (5) has a pratical, workable solution for computer placement; (6) is easily cleaned ; and (7) is aerodynamic. There's my list. None of the current market products meet all these criteria. Perhaps the Versa will...

I personally don't understand why triathletes are so fond of all these overly complicated drinking systems. I use a regular BTA bottle and it works great. With a little bit of practice anyone should be able to remove and drink out of the bottle in the aero position, really not that difficult to do. When the bottle is empty I just swap with my spare. The thought of triathletes actually refilling these contraptions while riding in the middle of a race gives me the willies. My wife has a competing drink system and while very aero, she only uses it in races as if she doesn't duct tape the hell out of it the thing sprays Gatorade all over her bike. Just abysmal engineering.

Folks, keep it simple!

Well, I think the goal of the complicated sysems is--or should be-- to simplify the entire cockpit, but I think they fail for the reasons I lised above. That is why I am back to just a basic bottle between the arms.

Couldn't agree more. It's likely the same reason that Craig Alexander tossed his XLab bta bottle system after getting a few miles out of Kona a couple of years ago.

Whenever I see another one of these monstrosities, I think of this:

Scroll about 2/3 down the page and there is a quick vid that shows the computer mount able to move as well.

Hmmmm, looks like the same bite valve that broke on mine (cracked) within a year with only being used a couple of dozen times.

Just got my headset replaced due to Gatoraid and other energy crap corroding it. If it splashes, "at all", I'm not interested.

Sure, I can learn to drink out of just about anything, I could just stuff bottles into the back of my jersey or use down tubes or a back hydration system. BUT, I have found that having the straw out there means that I drink more because it is more convenient.

They have a new bite valve that is thicker and won't tear.

It is actually splashproof. If you look at the photo there is a little bump in front of the straw area that is new on the bottle. This is the dolphin breather valve which is coming soon and it will be replacing the hole that is currently in the solid cap. It essentially allows air in, but avoids water coming out. I will shoot a video later today and share it here...we are still unpacking from the show! We were demonstrating it at the show and everyone was impressed.

Well noted on the draining of fluid and will forward this to the engineering team.

On the new style Versa Computer Mount, as Jim mentioned there is a lot of adjustability, thus the no compromises. It is height adjustable, you can have a computer flat near the Versa mounting plate or up high over the bottle. You can also tilt the angle of the computer which is on-the-go as you are riding, so you can move it out of the way of the sun. Here is an illustration of the adjustability. We will be posting more pictures and videos of the system as we get closer to launch

In all fairness, Craig tossed the bottle like many others that year because of the heat. They wanted to have aid station bottles up at the front so they could hydrate & pour water on them when they weren't near aid stations. Last year, Craig had his Torpedo system the entire race, same as Daniela Ryf.

Definitely a new bite valve. It looks the same, but when you squeeze the two it is very different. We added more silicone to the cover and modified the black central post as well for added support.

Stay tuned on the video I will be posting which shows you can flip the bottle completely upside down, shake it and you won't get a drop!
