Not much in details, but the picture and caption tells us a bit.

1x, disc brakes, looks like the P4 and SuperSlice had a child.

Looks purdy. I really want someone to do a decent job with disc brakes for a road bike. Maybe they'll be it?

Is that front brake hose REALLY hanging next to the head tube? Sigh...

How else do you route it?

1x is a dealbreaker for me in a road or TT bike.
We have hills here. I like climbing them. And descending them.

I need a bike w sufficient gearing to get up them (equivalent to 39x27, or even grannier) - AND bomb down the other side (53x11, or speedier).
I'm not aware of 1x road gearing that can cover both those extremes.
And if it did, then of course the jumps between cogs would likely be fairly large.

(I *heart* 1x for MTB tho!!)

And yeah, that brake cable in the wind....

Well...seeing as how 3T most likely designed the bars, stem, fork, and frame, I'm somewhat disappointed the hydraulic routing wasn't somehow done down the steerer and into the fork leg. Embed a "hydraulic routing channel" into the fork and put a banjo fitting at each end. Do the same for the rear brake.

If they're going to go "all in" on hydraulics, go ALL IN, fer cripes sake ;-)

It's funny...I STILL don't have any problems with my front derailleurs on ANY of my bikes, nor problems with dropped chains or chainsuck.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong??

Looks like there might be something like a 42T cog on the back....

And no option for 2x.

Nope.

Suffer Well.

The SuperSlice runs the cable down the front the fork crown - with the tri version of the bike placing a fairing/cover over the head tube.

Yes, and if it were on a MTB where you don't mind/notice the larger jumps so much, that'd be sweet.

But you can't get toight jumps AND wide top and bottom range in 1x for road.

I guess maybe I could get used to not having quite the perfect cog, but I still think 2x has its place on the road, and is preferable.
YMMV.

I'm building up an Exploro with 44-10/42. It will be nearly identical to my current 50/34-11/32 setup.

I'll have to report back in time to let you know if I hate the jumps in gear ratio. Time will tell.

I've never ridden a 1x - not an MTBer.

My preferred cadence range is 88-96. I'm not sure if those would be spaced too far out for me or not... I suppose I could do the math.

Yep, my 42 cog is basically the same diameter as the 160mm rotor on the back of my Fuji Jari...and those look like 140mm rotors, so...

1 1/8" non tappered steering tube? Tire clearance less than a 2014 S5? Very thin backend tubes? Maybe old school geometry?

I have 1x11 on both my TT and road bike. I live in So Cal where it is hilly. I have a 52 on the front and a 10~42 on the back. That gives me a greater range on both ends than I had on my 2x setup. In almost 2 years, I've never dropped my chain. I guess it's not for everyone but I love it.

Well...to be fair...when I ride my old 8-speed Bianchi with a 12-30 cassette, I notice the "jumps" at first. But, the more I ride it, the more I get used to being "OK" with wider variations in cadence and pedal force.

Of course, since the shifters are on the downtube, that also "discourages" overly frequent gear changes anyway ;-)

That said, I agree with you on 2X for road...and even "all-road"...applications.

Looks like really, really tight clearance with that tire. I can't tell what size it is.

ALL of my bikes have a front derailleur...and I haven't dropped a chain in probably 4-5X that time span (at least)...so, there's that :-/

Same, for road racing you need the 2x, joe martin, gila, etc you need a 2x.

That's a fair point. The biggest benefit for me is not having to think about when to shift that front ring. Now I feel like I'm always in the correct gear. Second benefit to me is not having to maintain/deal with the mechanics of an additional derailleur. It's also super quiet. Again, it's not for everyone.

Hehe...the more I see of it (especially the BB area), the more it reminds me of a carbon version of my "Aero Camino" ;-)
