There’s a guy on these forums that sells an adapter for the rear brake, so you can install a TriRig Omega.

Yeah, I've seen that. It may, in fact, work fine but at this point I'm not sure I want to spend time and money 'Rube Goldberg'ing' a working rear brake onto a 9 year old bike.

Also looks like they have done away with Magura brakes and using Shimano, going on the brake levers?

Do you know if the future P5 rim will be redesigned also, using similar fork/stem/bar integration, smaller BB, back tail and stem , ... ?

As at this moment, I wouldn't put any money on a redesigned rim brake P5 at any point in the future.

I think at this point mostly fear. Getting caught without one on the market if that's the way the market turns. The bike industry created this trend, but it can't control the monster - can't create a firewall at the TT bike. Some of the bigs have already committed to disc TT. There's (or was) probably some hand-wringing going on at Trek. Trek also said they didn't want disc brakes on the Madone. Well guess what.....

And it makes the pro teams have one less hassle. I know it’s not a huge deal but having non-disc wheels for your TT bike and Disc for the others is just an added pain that doesn’t need to be there.

How does this save hassles? What ProTour team would run the same wheels for road and TT? These guys are practically all racing a disc in the back and >70mm front (or Tri-spoke, as Dumoulin often does). Very few riders ride wheels this deep also in a mass-start...

A lot depending on the rider. Just google images of whatever team you want. A lot of people are running shallower front’s now if they’re not a TT specialist since there isn’t a huge difference between say an 808 and 404 now.

There are also a ton of teams that aren’t getting bankrolled like Sky and don’t have 50 spares of everything. If you’re talking about the very top level guys you’re probably right. But that’s not the majority of athletes.

I don't think so.Pro teams already use different wheelsets for TT bikes (deep rims, disc wheels), I don't see why these can't remain rim brake, while the "road bike" wheelsets (and they normally have different rim depths to choose from) can be disc brake.

I already responded to this earlier. Not all pro teams have that type of budget and not all riders are using super deep wheels.

Sorry, threads are too long these busy days to keep track of all replies :)

In any case, your statement only applies to low-budget pro teams, which frankly, the industry (at least the industry we are addressing here - big bike and wheel brands) does not care about.

I don't know but I would bet heavily on no future rim brake model.

Compared to the black and red paint job this is significantly better. However, I think if the baseline price of this bike is $11k, there needs to be customizable paint jobs here, even if it's only two/three color choices like QR or Orbea.

Thanks for sharing!!!
Do you happen to know also when they want to launch the P5 Disc???
I heard that the Cervelo Athletes in Kona can already decide if they want to ride the P5X or the P5 Disc but this would mean that they need to release it within the next 72h and I doubt that.

I heard that the P5 release will be 24h before the big fight :)

This isn't the UCI, you can ride whatever you want, whenever you want - doesn't have to be publicly released.

Just because you haven't heard of it until now, doesn't mean the athletes are also just hearing about it now. They have known about this bike for months. Like the Shiv, Specialized athletes knew about it in January and have been riding it for at least a couple of months.

Hehe,
Sure you are right.
They could even ride a prototype.
I guess we are also aware that some of the Cervelo athletes are riding it already. But marketingwise the Cervelo want for sure to release their bike first before their athletes will ride it in Kona.
So it sound very plausible to me that they will release it 24h before the big fight.

he means in order to leverage athletes riding whatever they want, they'd be smart to do a media release beforehand, which means in the next 72hrs. I don't think he's saying they can't ride the bike technically if it hasn't been officially released yet.

There is no new P5 rim.
P5 Disc only.

I understand P5 is sold in small quantities (compared to P2/P3 and road models), so one model only make sense : disk only, ok.

S3 (bigger volume) is proposed in two versions : disk and rim

P2/P3 (medium volume) : Cervelo planning 2 versions or only one version (probably disk in the future) ?
