Narrow Feet? Cush Shoes
Do you have narrow-ish feet? Do you have a pair of ultra-cush running shoes ala Hoka or similar? Do you love them? Tell me about them, please.

I have narrow-ish feet, inbetween and B-C and have been running in 361 Voltars for the last few years. I'd like to try out a cushy ride but don't want to pull the trigger if they are too wide.

The closest stores near me are traditional running shoe stores and don't care Altras/Hokas/Netwons/Etc.. so I most likely have to order cause I don't feel like driving into the city.

Thanks for your suggestions/advice/opinions

I have narrow feet and high arches, and have always had good luck with Hokas.

For long run days when I may want extra cush, I go with the Clifton, and for days when I don't want/need as much I will run in the Tracers. The Tracers are definitely more narrow than the Clifton, but have a bit less of the soft ride. If you've ever run in the Saucony Kinvarra, I think the Tracers are very similar.

I have narrow feet and a high arch. Really liked the Hoka Clifton until versions 4/5. The forefoot in those models were too narrow for me and I made them work by substituting the pull out liner with an even thinner one. However, this might be OK for you without any modification.

Indoor Triathlete - I thought I was right, until I realized I was wrong.

I have an 11-11.5 B width for and have a hard time finding shoes as well. I did the Nike thing as they make fast, narrow shoes in some models. Then came the Morton's Neuroma said to be possibly caused by inflammation due to forefoot entrapment. I tried Hoka but absolutely hated them. My coach gave me a deal with Salming and I tried them. I have now become an Ambassador as I love the shoes so much and their ideas on construction/design. 2 years now, and no more flareups and loving the shoes more and more. As a very new company to the US, they are gathering a pretty good following now and I can attest to the quality. I'd give them a shot if I were you, but I also wanted to caution you as to the possibility of getting a forefoot situation that will set you back. Good luck and let me know if you want any info.....

A lot of shoes can be ordered in a narrow width.

Another option is to size up 1.5 or so sizes into a women's shoe (mens 10 = womens 11.5)
Women's standard width (C) is a men's narrow.

A women's wide (D) is a men's standard width in case anyone was wondering.

Colors may be < ideal at times. On the other hand a lot of shoe companies are going darker for 2019 on both men's and women's shoes. Lots of grey's, blacks, blues and less color pop.

Perfect! I'll look for a Women's 16.5 instead of a Men's 15!

Hi Gary. I’m wondering if you could help suggest a model that might work for me: female, narrow feet (exceptionally narrow arch and heel, but normal toe bed), high arches, neutral strike (don’t supinate or overpronate), prefer lightweight/minimalist shoes, experienced runner. I started having foot problems two years ago, first a Morton’s neuroma (resolved), and now dealing with rather debilitating plantar fasciitis in my left foot (not resolved with $600 custom orthotics or with OTC orthotics and other products). I think part of the continuing problem is that I can’t find a running shoe with a narrow enough heel to properly hold my foot. I ran in the Kinvaras for many years and then the New Balance Zante, but both are not holding my heel well enough, although mostly using a pair of Kinvara 9s at the moment. I did try the Hoka Clifton, but didn’t like it at all (couldn’t feel the road and didn’t like that). For whatever reason, the heel issue has gotten worse in the past year. Based on this thread, it sounds like I should give Salming a try. Your recommendation based on my above preferences would be greatly appreciated...thank you in advance!

You should also give this lacing method a try if you've not already: https://www.locklaces.com/...w-to-tie-a-heel-lock

it will help lock your heel in the shoe to a much greater degree than just tying your shoes

Let me look into it and see. I know there are some brand new models coming out as well that might be perfect. Back to you shortly.....
