One of the ways I stay calm and collected when racing in the ocean is pretending none of those marine creatures could possibly really be in the water anywhere near me.

my sister has numerous shark bites, I figure she is the shark snack in the family. I have run into sharks here but don't feel that they're really anything to worry about.

Any shark that is stupid enough to wander its way into a triathlon wave start, and get kicked, elbowed, climbed on top of scratched, etc..., not to mention any bites it takes will include some foul tasting rubber than has been bathed in sweat, PAM, Ultraglide, etc... will certainly think twice about doing it again. I'm sure it will quickly realize the ROI from hunting seals far exceeds that of triathletes.
