Muscle Repair 4 Athletes seeks dopers
So I just picked up my race packet for tomorrow's Los Olas International Triathlon (Ft Lauderdale, FL). There are flyers from a bunch of advertisers including Muscle Repair. The front side verbiage of the flyer includes "Your Performance IV Drip & IM Shots Plus Protocol-4 are waiting ... What are YOU waiting for."

Backside offerings include "Bioidentical Hormone Replenishment."

I am not amused, but I neither am I shocked.

Does Protocol-4 include a news crew popping into your treatment session with cameras rolling while you finish your IV bag? :)

I don't understand why the race organizer would put this in the bag?

Good question. I thought the same thing but would have to know exactly how all flyers came together and who did the bag stuffing. You would want some QC process before accepting flyers but those people might not be knowledgeable.

The Solvang Century today was sponsored by a "bioidentical hormone replacement" company. Poor choice I'd say.

At least that's not a race, and not USAC sanctioned.

can you post a picture? There was an advertisement that ran last year in either the Triathete magazine or USATs magazine with similar verbiage of supplements that were somehow barely legal if I recall correctly. I was shocked it was in there.

EPO-boost? They run ads in almost every issue, I think

Yeah, if you mean EPO boost, the name sounds suspicious and is probably marketed to attract people who THINK they are getting something that is barely legal, but isn't just echinacea, which has been shown actually NOT to increase natural production of EPO?

I think we should call out the race organizer (@MultiRaceEvents on twitter, @multirace on instagram) for taking money from and assisting a company in doping up triathletes.

Those organizers are dumbasses for sure.

USA Triathlon needs to shoulder some blame. Their anti doping efforts have been digging a deep hole in the ground then sticking their head in it.

A few years ago I remember tweeting something out about a vendor at USAT Nationals (even ST did a story on how the fuck does a NGB have a pro doping business at the expo). Then that same vendor was at LC Nationals a few months later.

Barry Siff who was/is on USAT's BOD got them removed within 30 minutes of learning about it. But talk about a HUGE fuck up by USAT again

NGB's need to (still) better educate their RD's about what is acceptable and put some restrictions on vendors/products.

I took a photo but it was 3.9MB. Used a compress program and it's just under 700KB now - still too big for Dan's rules.

Total and complete newb when it comes to tech, but I succeeded with a different program. Old dogs can be taught new tricks!

People know. They just don't give a fuck.

I would also argue that "heads in the sand" for USAT is too nice a way of putting it. They're complicit. A doped up roided out culture of highly active, impossibly fit, disposable income having, Instagram influencing, race/event doing people is good for business and in the end *money/growth* is exactly what everyone, other than people who believe in fair sport, wants.

Follow the money.

Yes, these kind of clinics are all over the place in South Florida. But it would be naive' to think that doping is not prevalent in the AG ranks across the United States. Anyone who thinks that doping is just a small percentage of the field is deluding themselves.

I'm not saying it's not true, but unless you have some corroborating evidence, it's really just a "feeling", right?

From their instagram feed. Looks like they even have sponsored athletes and co-sponsor a team with a Florida bike shop chain...

Here's the bike shop: https://www.citybikesonline.com/

Here's the company's website for testosterone and IV's.... https://mr4a-antiaging.com/

The company, the race organizer and the bike shop need to be called out on social media.

I don't think it's possible to ever know the true extent of doping in triathlon but the circumstantial evidence continues to pile up. Companies like this would not target triathletes if they don't know that was a steady source of revenue for them. Then there's the constant drip-drip-drip of Ironman and USADA sanctions. Finally, given the number of drafters, course cutters, tire deflators, and other outright cheaters, it shouldn't be any stretch of the imagination to think that a good percentage of those cheaters would not also seek out PEDs. We only see the tip of the iceberg, so it's more than 'just a feeling' although far from quantifiable.
