sure--you can see your compatriot Svein Tuft go off--he's the 6th starter or so. That guy is a beast. Even though it's not his course, I bet he's top 10.

I think Levi's going to be tough to beat on this course.

First rider down the ramp. It's Argentina's Medici and he looks a trifle overwrought by the whole affair.

On what appears to be a stock Scott Plasma we've seen before.

Losts of time out of the saddle.

Beppu of Japan down the start ramp, I believe one of Bruyneel's former riders....

Beppu has a nice style as we get a rare glimpse at an Iranian athlete here, Askari...

He starts with a spritely cadence as Beppu is looking very good out on the course.

The first Canadian now, Tuft, ready for the ordeal

The start house officials look to be enjoying their role. They are taking it very seriously and counting the athletes down with gusto.

The weather conditions appear favorable as there is little movement among the trees. The tarmac seems dry. A light overcast so excellent photography and television pictures.

NBC just doing a wownderful job with this live feed. The guys at Ironmanlive.com could take a que from this...

Lots of SRAM Red equipped bikes...

When they cut to the shot from the front of the start house you can see profiles of athlete's bikes waiting to start. Let's keep an eye on that....

Medici at the first time check... our first rider.

The Argie goes through in good form now. Looks like he's warmed to the course a bit. Perhaps he was conserving on the initial, tough uphill portion.
