Masters/Triathlon swimming in Orlando, Fla?
I´m spending 10 days around X-mas in Orlando, Fla (Kissimmee) and would love to join in on some swimming sessions, either with a Masters group, or with a Triathlon squad.
Either that, or just information on the best pools in the area!

Thanks
Jonas

If you have a wetsuit, you should check out lucky's lake. It's awesome!

^^^This. I'm going tomorrow morning. I'm a regular there, and if the water is anything like it was two weeks ago, I'm not going to be wearing a wetsuit. They will give you a hard time if the water is in the 60's, even if the air is in the 50's.

You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Towers. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying stripes of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway." T Durden

Then in that case he better not have a wetsuit. Having grown up in cooler climate, it wouldn't normally be too cold yet, but having lived here for a few years and acclimated, it can get the pulse up quickly. But completely tolerable to some.

I'm also planning to stay there a couple of days, thanks for the tip.

Checked out the FAQs on the site. Couple of questions though. How likely are you to run into a gator or snake? Is the turn out still around 12-15 lately? The reason I ask, I have swam plenty of times OW, but not in an area where I would not likely run into these creatures. I imagine a larger group would help mitigate that anxiety.

Ha the folklore of luckys lake swim. You'll be fine. If you don't see a gator at the start I'm sure there's none out there.

first class free - $15 after that - 6-7:30ish am Mo/Wed/Fri - make sure you drop her a line about whether she is traveling at all - GREAT group. Also try to get out to the clay road 10 mile loop for a run, you will no longer be convinced Florida is completely flat! Great break from the crowded theme parks - quiet, open views, orange grove, 10 miles of nothing but great running - pm me and i can give you driving directions from Universal area if you are interested...

Reviving this thread as I'll be in Disney Springs/ Orlando for 6 days from June 24-29 for work.
Bringing my swim stuff and was planning to swim at the YMCA - 5:30am masters M,W,Fr with the "tri club"
And I assume Lucky's Lake Swim is still going on?

Appreciate any tips on biking/running routes as well.
Direct message if you do!

Thanks!

I’d actually check out the group (Slap, Sara mclarty I think) that swims at Celebration hospital. Easier to get to from Disney.
