I am considering building up a Martec Super Bike. Does anyone have information or opinions on the frameset?

-Thanks

Hi Gregory,

I had my eye on this bike recently, too. I don't have any information on it you can't get elsewhere, mostly on bikeparts.net. Martec makes this frame for BP Stealth. They have some other frames that look great, too. FWIW, Martec also makes the Kestrel Talon in China.

Since I live in Taiwan, I wrote Martec an email in Chinese and asked them where I could get a hold of one of the frames. They replied, but didn't answer my question. I suppose I should prod them a little more. It looks like an awesome frame.

I've been curious as well. Some e-mail I had with BP led me to believe the frame may be manufactured in more than one place, and with variations in quality. The BP product and others can be seen at:

A Martec: http://www.chucksbikes.com/fr024.htm

BP2: http://www.bikeparts.net/...le_racing_frame.html

Nullarbor TT: http://www.epxbikes.com/

Pedal Force RA: http://www.pedalforce.com/

The BP sites ( BP and BikeParts.Net) have an article about the BP2 being ridden by the winner of IM Canada. Road Bike Review has a couple of postings on the frame, and one describes some contact with the company.

As you look at these sites, you will see other frames that seem to be identical from one name to the next. I'm really curious about the pedigree.

Here's another link for you, straight from Martec. I had to search exhaustively to find this, and only found it using the company's Chinese name:

www.martec-cn.com

As you can see, it appears that Martec indeed produces many of the bikes linked in Flyebaby's post. I think I'll work on that Powerpoint presentation of why they should sponsor me and see what happens;-) As it stands I race on a Giant TCR and don't have any problems with the geometry on that bike, so with a seat shifter the Martec might be a killer machine.

Also, note that on the Martec site "purchase on-line" is designed for OEM customers, not the general public. Martec is doing very well supplying frames, forks and seat posts to some well-known brands.
