Meet report South Central Zone Championships Day 1,
I swam 100IM, 50 BR, and 100 FLY today. It was a little bit hectic. The meet started with the 500's and the rest of the people could arrive later. There was some major construction on the main freeway heading to the pool, and I got there a bit late. I warmed up OK, but I didn't get a chance to practice on the blocks, or get any sprinting in.
First Race 100 IM...
It's pretty cool to be in the South Central Zone. FINA 2011 #1 men's 45-49 200IM (lcm) was in the lane next to me (Anders Rasmussen) in lane 5, and FINA 2011 #1 men's 45-49 200IM (scm) (Ross Davis) was in lane 2. I was in lane 6. I had a terrible start and kinda panicked. I tried to get back in the race too quickly. I managed to be in it by the end of the breast stroke. Then the panic and lack of warmup hit me and I really faded over the last 10 meters. My final time was 57.35. I'm pretty happy with the race considering all the things I did poorly.

A decent start! Well, at least it was improved from last time. Its tough to get breast stroke rhythm when sprinting, but I think I did pretty well until the last 5 meters. All in all, my best race of the day. 28.51.
http://www.youtube.com/...amp;feature=youtu.be. I won my AG but the region record is 28.08 so I didn't get it. (I think it's a body suit era record -- sour grapes.)
Third Race 100 FLY...
Haven't swum a competitive 100 fly since high school. This time I swam between Ross and Anders -- 1,2, and 3. I thought I was going out slow enough, but I was wrong. I led (my AG) at the 75, but Ross tore me up on the last 25. Anders had a long day, but still almost caught me at the end. Final time 56.35? (I forgot this exact time. I will get it tomorrow. I was out in 25.9, so there was a lot of fading on this 100 too. No video for this one unfortunately.
100 BR, 50 FLY, 200IM tomorrow...
