I recently came down with a soleus strain while running and my doctor recommended that I seek out a deep tissue massage from an experienced therapist. I work in Manhattan and would be looking for someone in that area. There is no shortage of places in NYC, but the difficulty is in identifying a really good therapist. Any recommendations? Thanks very much.

I'm going to give this a bump as I am in the search as well.
Surely someone out there must have something in the way of a recommendation or at least experience.

I actually just received one recommendation via Facebook:
Sang Yuan Body Works
225 East 83rd Street
(212) 734-5521
Ask for Li. Solid reviews on Yelp. And reasonably priced. Still hoping for some more suggestions, though. Surely, with all the triathletes and runners in NYC, there has to be some knowledge to tap into.

100% not the cheapest option, but I go to finishline for just about everything.
They have a masseuse on staff

This is what happens when the govt shuts down craigslist's "therapeutic" classified sections?..

Thanks. That's helpful. I've considered FinishLine in the past but never had any feedback from someone on their experience.

Marc got me through both of my IM, albeit, in 08 & 09. Fact that he's still around says something. He's also a great guy and used to volunteer up at LP.
eta: he treated me for a calf issue as well.
Good luck

Don't have a specific recommendation, but definitely look for someone who runs/tris or treats high-level athletes. They'll have the knowledge base to know how to treat any injuries, aches, and pains the best. That was the number one thing I looked for when looking for my PC doc in NYC and it has paid for itself.

I just went to Finish Line for the first time last night for a psoas issue (couldn't walk). Granted, I didn't have a massage done, but from what I can tell everything seems to be top notch. Plus, their specialty is treating triathletes and runners.
Thanks to you both (the two prior posts). Both very helpful. Particularly good to get some more feedback on FinishLine, even if only general, from someone who was on the inside.
