Looking for advice on my tubeless race setup
Quote | Reply
Doing the Haines City 70.3 in two weeks and was planning on running tubeless for the race. I currently have Reynolds strike carbon wheels with Vittoria Corsa tires and stans sealent. My back tire got a decent sized hole yesterday and wont seal, going to just replace it for the race but wondering what the most reliable/fast tubeless tires and sealent are? Or should I run latex tubes with sealent inside as i’ve seen a few post recently about that? Thanks in advance!

There is a tubeless master thread, so that's worth finding and digging into.

I like Stan's having tried a few others. I did get a road puncture that took a while to seal and since then I've had this with me -

But it hasn't happened since so I can't really recommend it. But seems like it would cover the majority of things and be pretty quick. I haven't been carrying a tire boot for anything bigger because if I had to do that during a race it would take so long it seems pointless. But the crank brothers tire lever, people have recommended here, seems like it would speed things up enough to rethink that.

Continental GP5000 clincher tires with latex tubes.

I'd run gp5000 tubeless tires. Sealant inside latex tubes doesn't really do anything. If you want fast, the corsa speed are about as fast as it gets, but the reliability is definitely a bit more questionable. Personally I've had great luck with orange seal, but I hear stans works great too.

GP5000 give better flat protection, and then give up just a few watts to the fastest tires?

And then tubeless vs latex tubes is basically a wash. Right?

id look and see which tires have fit the Reynold strike well in tubeless form. Since there isn't a specific standard set in place yet (ERTO) its kind of hit or miss. Yes the gp5000 is a great all around tire but for some rims (My Enve 5.6) its pretty darn difficult to get off. So I went with something else that goes on pretty easily if you do need to change it. I went with the enve tires and have been happy with it.
