Longest extensions in the world?
I found a picture of what must be the longest extensions in the world. They were ridden by Nico Heßlich (son of legendary track sprinter Lutz Heßlich) at Ironman Italy 70.3 2019. He went 2:01:08 on the bike.

Dumb novice question. High hands to me seems inherently less aero because of exposing so much more area of your body and bars to the wind. Why do people do it?

Instead of scooping air into your chest it directs it down and away

That's wild. I wonder how hard it is to control? I don't have the balls.

While I like his position, It seems like he went to a lot of work getting it when a different bike would have required less customization.

It's going back a long time ago (more than 10) I saw Harry Walker in this superman position. The frame was custom to be super long so he didn't fall foul of the extention rules at the time.
He maintained this position for 50 miles in a 1hour 4? Time. Win by about 5 minutes.

This is the result of integrated cockpits and their lack of reach. What are the longest extensions in the market? Seems like most companies max out at 400mm.
