I think that there's one thing that we can agree on, and it's that Lane 1 and Lionel shouldn't be a thing anymore. That's why I'm asking everyone to join in my petition to Talbot Cox to ban Lionel from Lane 1

I think we've all seen the video, but if you haven't, watch at your own risk here. It's bad, it's abhorrent, it's an insult to all who are have ever donned a singlet, pinned on a number, or walked the mile in gym class - and there needs to be subsequent action.
The idea that a pro triathlete would show up for a brick session at a track is not something unheard of. That said, there is the basic decorum of the track, outlined in this 2015 Runners World article. "The inside lane is for the fastest runner." Now I don't doubt that Lionel Sanders is likely the fastest runner at the track which he runs, but what he's failed to read in this article is the inside lane is for the fastest runner only when they are running. Lane 1 isn't just some nice piece of property that you can buy up and then put a mini mall on without consulting local authorities. No, Lane 1 is a public good, something we all (specifically the residents of Palm Springs) have paid for, and it is mind bending that some Canadian triathlete comes to this Lane 1 and decides to plant his Wahoo Kickr.
Plenty others have come before him and shown due respect to the track. Take Ben Kanute, here with his trainer for a brick session. Lionel may have obligations to Wahoo to use their trainer, but I doubt they intended to ever be involved in such outrage.
We hereby ask that all triathletes, runners, and in general, humanitarians band together to say enough is enough, Lionel. Lane 1 is reserved no longer for you and your Kickr. You are no longer welcome. The time to buy an extension cord is now. Your time in Lane 1 has come to an end
