LIVE! Martin Toft Madsen Danish Hour Record attempt

Figured I'd start a new message so that people can catch it while it's live.

Looking good so far!

He has a different position for track vs road. Higher hands on the track, level forearms for the road.

I think the speed the speed they are posting is the average of a couple laps or something since it moves around. It's consistently over 54km/hr so he looks to be doing well. Wish we could see the overall pace though.

20 minutes to go. At half way they said he was 15m ahead of Bjerg so pretty dead on record pace.

Just saw this, thanks for the link!

After I've watched a few of his attempts, I now try to imitate the head drop in the straights :D Not sure if it makes me faster or not, but it makes me look more pro in photos :D

15 minutes to go. He slowed a bit after the half way point, but now is pacing over 54km/hr again, so I think he's going to pull it off.

the images of the clock seemed to suggest something north of 56km, which i can't imagine was the case. do you know how it ended up? he's being interviewed by danish TV right now, but they haven't placed a final distance achieved on the video screen.

53 kilometer 955 meter. Great ride Martin! Looked brutal.

Old record was 53 kilometer 730 meter.

EDIT: Correction, they are reporting 53.975 now, not 53.955. So close to 54...

The coverage kinda sucked. The pace posted was either the last lap or maybe average of a few. No way to tell how he was doing overall.

53.630km in Mexico... but they had just sanded the track before his attempt which impacts Crr quite a lot. There's a good chance he could have beat Wiggins otherwise. He did a 52.324km in Denmark earlier but that was a slower track than the one at Odense that he used this time.

Those two tend to work as a system... ;)

In the comments at TV2 they say Bjerg is already planning another attempt in Sept.

KASK Mistral? From what I've heard, it was designed to work in a *similar* way to the POC Tempor (what he rode prior) in terms of pushing air "around" the shoulders. FWIW, same helmet the Aussies used to set the TP WR. It's quite popular as the new "go-to" helmet for timed track racers, though I wonder if POC still actually made the Tempor if that'd be the case. There are some folks at the track who ride it, so maybe I can borrow one and put it up against the Tempor.

Odense, Denmark.

Aguascalientes is fine in Aug but it's expensive trip, and time prepping for altitude.

The Tempor is such an interesting helmet. It got constantly shit on since 2012, but now it's sold out everywhere. (Thanks Darbedos) Would be interesting to see if it sold better if it was re-released now. It seems for a very specific position it is great.

The Van Houweling group will be there at the end of August. Usually a LOT of records come out of that group... including at least one ST'er (I wont' call out) on this go round.
