Knocking noise when peddling
Hi all -

Working on a vid, but on downstroke of my left foot towards the bottom of the pedal I get a knocking noise in my P5. My gut is that I need a new bottom bracket, but just wondering if others have seen this?

(Seems similar to this but only going forward and once per rotation - https://forum.slowtwitch.com/...5bVIDEO%5d_P5036676/)

Thanks!

I may just be that you need bearings replaced in BB?

Frustratingly then whilst BB is a strong possibility, these noises can get funneled through the frame from elsewhere. Over the years then I'll add the following to my first hand experience of similar noises:
Pedal spindle bearings (ended up riding along shooting individual bearings out at cars as I pedaled home)
Saddle rails x2 (more of a creak) - where the rails met with the seat one front one back.
Headset
Snapped alloy bottle holder
Worn cleat

When you spin by hand with no load do you get that knock? Once per crank revolution? If so almost certainly BB.

If only under load (riding) once per crank revolution it could be a loose crankarm. Remove, clean, lube, tighten to spec.

Thanks - different knock 😁.

It’s the click click click noise the bike makes when my left foot gets to about the 9 o clock position (if you were watching my left side straight on.

It is a bike noise, not my knee 😁

Seatmast needs carbon pasting?

Or

rail inserts under saddle need oiling?

Or

It's not the tip of your right crank passing the outside your derailleur?

Or

Is your big chainring bent, pushing your chain along the inside of the derraileur?

Or

Is there a speedlink on your chain that's slightly wider that your chain not clearing the inside of the derraileur?

I thought I had a BB issue once and took it to a shop. The mechanic bent the front derailleur cable towards the back wheel and charged me $20 for some new handlebar tape out the door.

Cervelo? Probably a seat mast problem.

could definitely be a pedal, had the same problem and after paying to have the BB reinstalled, kept having the problem. rebuilt the pedals, problem gone,

Try out a different set of pedals if you have some...

When I built up my QR Lucero several years back (used frame, transferred components from old bike), I got that annoying click on the left side at 9:00. Tried everything I could think of, even trying 3 different BBs, but nothing worked. A co-worker said he saw a similar issue at a shop he used to work at, the culprit turned out to be a dry bottle cage bolt in the downtube. So I removed my cage bolts and greased them, the click hasn't been back in years...
