Kickr Core resistance
I just upgraded trainers. Had a 1st gen Kickr. Have a buddy who bought a Core for the pandemic but just never used, maybe 10 times. So sold it to me for a good deal, bascially brand new.

Issue is trying to ride Zwift, it feels much harder. Even 0% grades, feel like I am pedailng through mud compared to prior. Can get my cadence and power up to typical output, but feels harder to hold. I use app on my Apple TV, but have also tried on my iPhone, same issue.

Is not in ERG. I have done spindowns in Zwift and separately in the Wahoo Fitness app. I don't use a power meter on trainer, so can't use that to compare.

Is it just that the tech on a newer Core is that much more dialed, and this is simply more accurate (which means I'm weaker than I already thought, haha)?

Maybe try changing the wheel diameter in the Wahoo app.
A smaller wheel diameter will make it so you can use a higher gear on the bike for the same watts and grade in the game.
Mine is set to 1.8m. This means I can ride Z2 (200-260w) in the big chainring without being badly cross-chained. Which is more relistic and better for component life.

Core is direct, not wheel on. The Snap is wheel on.

IIRC spin down warmup and room temp can matter. Can’t recall if hotter or colder means more or less power.

I know it is direct drive, I own one.
Can still change the wheel diameter in the app and has the effect of changing base resistance as stated.
