Happy November, guys! The updated swim team roster is below; there are 73 of us. If you haven't done so already, please enter your name into this Google spreadsheet:

3400 yds this morning, 116,600 to go.

Workout -

400 w/u
8 x 50 dr/sw on :50
4 x 100 k/sw/pull/sw on 1:35

4 x 50 on :45 (35s)
3 x 100 on 1:30 (1:15, 1:14, 1:14)
2 x 150 on 2:15 (1:55, 1:53)
1 x 200 on 2:50 (2:24)
2 x 150 on 2:05 (1:49, 1:48)
3 x 100 on 1:25 (1:11, 1:11, 1:08)
4 x 50 on :40 (37s)

100 easy
8 x 50 on 1:00 from midpool, so you get two flip turns... the flip turns are what I was focusing on, not the speed
200 c/d

The last set of 50s should have been ~32s, as I was supposed to descend the pace over the whole set. But on that last 100 coming down the pyramid, felt like suffocating. I didn't breathe before the turns and I was going so fast... when I got to the 50s it was like there was a big sphere of air in my throat that I couldn't get down. I could not breathe and the last set of 50s were just, make your interval all you have to do is make your interval.

It looks like an easy set, it lies.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I'm trying to one up Desertdude on the 10K in November program....there is a 25 m pool right beside my hotel in Beijing. I swam 2500m after work today...I am already 25% to my 10,000m pool....with this good access to a pool (way better than home), I hope to be 75% done by Saturday and perhaps done by Sunday!

Nov 1 - 5,000 yards, 115,000 to go.

2 x 500 warm up,
5 x 200 kick on the 4:15 (3:50),
4 x 200 pull on the 3:15 (2:50) with paddles and pull buoy,
20 x 100 on the 1:30 (1:11-1:12),
200 easy,
starting block practice. (have a swim meet on Nov 11th in west bloomfield, mi)

Nothing to difficult since I'm trying to increase my yardage. 100's set kept my heart rate up in the 160's, but was easily manageable throughout.

OK, I just went to the google spreadsheet. Its amazing, but I guess Jintao Hu know's that I am logged in from Chinese IP address and thus Google China's interface appears, which results in all the google spreadsheet tabs displayed in Chinese and no option to toggle to english display!!! Oh yeah, and if you try to go to the Jintao Hu entry on Wikipedia, it get's blocked...so much for free market reform...its only as free as the Chairman wants it to be so I better say nice things about him or my ST friends will have to use the Nov swim challenge to swim up the Yangtze river to its source and rescue me from a labour camp where they give me November point for not having sex (which frankly is not happening anyway since I am 12 time zones away from my wife) :-)

This is what google docs help says to do if you get the wrong language. Not sure if this will fix your problem though:

Quote:

If Google Docs is appearing in a language you don't understand or don't want to use, you can change the language by following these steps:
  1. On your Docs homepage, click the link that appears next to your email address.
  2. Once you're on the Settings page, click the first drop-down menu box.
  3. Choose the language you want to use.
  4. Click the button in the bottom-left corner of the orange Settings screen, beside the link that says "Back to Google Documents." (This is the Save button.)

Are you ok to swim now? What's a separated shoulder? I am guessing something with the acromioclavicular joint. Sounds painful.

Welcome; do try and stay injury free :)

Considering the time difference between Beijing and Arizona, I think you have an unfair advantage!

Thanks for doing this Tigerchick, and thanks for the Google spreadsheet site Luna Banana, it makes keeping track simple.

My pool isn't open for lane swims untill noon, so I'll be heading to the gym now and do some weights and treamill to warm up, then go downstairs to the pool to do a 1000m or so, I will post my distance on the spreadsheet later in the day...... I know 1000m or so is only a warm up for most! but that's a full workout for me. : )

It's really interesting reading all of the different workouts and intervals. I'll never be able to keep up with you fast people, though! :-) Not having a competitive swimming background, though, I do my best. :-)

Warmup:
-350 free
-4x200 swim/kick/drill/swim by 50, @ 3:30 (3:10)
-12x50 @ 0:55; drill 1-3, descend 4-6, drill 7-9, ascend 10-12
-8x75 dolphin kick on back w/fins, @ 1:05 (0:57-0:58)

Main set (my masters coach was feeling sadistic today, it seems):
-2x700: 50 free/50 IM/100 free/100 IM/200 free/200 IM, continuous; 30 seconds rest between the sets.

-6x100 pull with paddles/buoy @ 1:30 (1:17-1:18)

Warm down: 150 easy

Total: 4500 yards (SCY)

Thanks tiger and luna!
Now if only slowtwitch could kick me out of bed when the alarm goes off.
Hey Luna, 200k is 6700 per day 7 days a week, right? That doesn't leave much time for biking and running.
Please tell me you get paid to train.

3000y as planned
500 mixed wu
5x 100's on 1:40
500
10x200 (trying to learn to sight better)
200 kick

I'm aiming for 50,000 meters.

This morning I did something between 1500 and 2000. I'll call it 1700, 1500 free and some back stroke.

Thanks
