Pretty interesting, good they got Bob Babbit to comment. One thing though, the one woman has only done two ironmans and did Kona in 2015 after just learning to swim a couple years earlier? She obviously did not qualify through any racing, wasn't the lottery gone in 15?

Do they give out political spots, I have no idea???Maybe she is rich and got an eBay slot...

Thanks for posting. A very interesting race to watch this fall. Of course, I wondered how Sinema got to Kona in her second IM - https://www.crowdrise.com/sinema

Sinema getting a slot was discussed here - https://forum.slowtwitch.com/...a_slots..._P5593878/ I haven't watched the NBC Kona coverage in at least several years now. Was Sinema featured in the 2015 coverage as suggested in the thread?

Didn't know McSally was a triathlete. I was all in on her being a fighter pilot...Triathlete even better.

Washed up footy player turned Triathlete.

this is newsworthy. i've been telling my MSM contemporaries about this for months, when it became apparent who the finalists for this senate seat would likely be. we have two women, each ironman finishers, vying for the seat. pretty neat.

"Her seat is too high..."

So, we need to get them to post some bike fit coordinates, a swim video so we can debate this in true ST fashion.

i have no idea. never thought to inquire. i don't really care. not that you shouldn't, it just didn't ever occur to me as a point of interest.

The republican did a 10;40 something ironman, they didn't say if it was Kona or no. The democrat did 15 hours in Kona. But she is 10 years younger than the pub, so maybe head to head now it could be a bit closer?? Certainly the pub looks more fit in the finisher photos...

Whomever the winner is , I hope they can lobby for a bill that allows sports/fitness related expenses to be deducted.

So do predictions of the outcome of this race belong here or in the Lavendar Room?

It was Kona 1993, 10:45:00 (1:01:35 / 5:37:53 / 4:05:32)

I still say McSally would win if she gets back into it.

Well a 25 year gap could be cruel to someone that has not dabbled much as of recent. The 15 hours of the much younger could be 14 now, and that old 93 time of the eldest could be 14 now, so perhaps this is how we should choose the next one, head to head in Kona this year!!!!

Forgot to ask, is McSally a Trumpster???

Actually most of the polls leading up to this latest election has a slight lead to the democrat, which is really not supposed to be happening in this state. But there is a huge undecided or 3rd party group that will break come Election Day, that group will decide the next female ironman senator...
