Ironman Australia - Wurf 9 mins up off the bike

Wurf just broke the bike record by 5 minutes.

The run will be an interesting indicator as to where he is at.

Just had a glance over at the FB feed, loos like Tim Reed is taking around 10 seconds a k out of Wurf. He has a good cushion, just needs to run a low to mid 2;50 to hang on. Apparently this is Wurf's old stomping grounds..

He did well to hold off reed who broke the marathon record.

He ran a 2.50.20.

Impressive. If he didn’t stop to spew, he would have broken 2.50

FYI. For Australians the Port Mac Ironman is a right of passage. Ironman was first brought to Australia at Forster about an hours drive south and remained there for several years until the shift to Port. The swim is in an estuary so flat and subject to tides. The run is a 10k loop with 1 decent hill and great spectatator action. But the bike is where Wurf's performance is so good. The road surface is what you American's call chipseal. Not only that but it is full of repaired potholes and being coastal subject to the prevailing winds. Its a great performance as was Tim Reeds.

I'd give your course summary a B+.

I'd describe the hill on the run course as small or negligible rather than decent.
